Make sure to run the game with the -dx11 launch option. Doing this fixed all of my previous performance issues with the game.
-dx11
The game is still very laggy and it's hard to play with it. Otherwise, it is still a pretty good game
lots of framerate loss when switching between point fire and ads
works alright now, just be aware of slight performance issues and the usual bugs you might encounter due to the early state of the fame
switch to newest Proton Experimental improved performance, but still not on par with Windows. However, the game seems playable now
playable, with some performance issues
All missions are playable with the latest Proton-GE versions, however at the current state it is barely playable
sometimes the mouse cursor is still visible
runs like ass, even with FSR in performance mode and low resolution below 60 fps
would not recommend to buy it until performance on Proton improves, it´s no fun to play with the current performance issues
gamemoderun %command%
Fullscreen in windowed mode is ok
Aiming is not possible and it is completely offset. If you press the right mouse button or zoom, the aiming is correct
With today's game update and Proton Experimental, the game works 98% of the time. The performance problems have disappeared and it no longer jerks at medium to high settings. I have also deactivated the Steam overlay.
Rarely it will run seamlessy at 144Hz, however most of the time it runs around 30-50 FPS
The game will often crash, especially when trying to load a mission
I would not recommend buying this game unless you are really dying to play it. I would wait for now and see if it runs better in the future.
If you can deal with the poor performance and stability issues its a fun to play.
wierd AA/FSR dithering when moving. this is also present in windows.
Runs bad, FPS everywhere frequently crashes
It's still in early access and alot of the issues are present in windows. i generally get worse performance on linux than expected. have not tried MP yet.
Lighting Issues
FPS remains below 60
Any recent version of proton does not load game sessions or show videos. Freezes at loading menu
Was able to use the recent version of proton 9 to do the training, but Campaign missions or multiplayer all freeze at loading screen. Using proton 7 heavily impacts performance and disables network play.
Doesn't even open, just immediately crash to desktop.
gamemoderun %command%
Works out of the box
I haven't had to do anything out of the ordinary to get this game to work. Latest version of proton boots and plays perfectly fine in all aspects of the game.
mangohud gamemoderun %command%
slow pace fps and realistic
Works Perfectly
No tinkering required, Worked with playing with a friend online who was on windows with no issues other than the same ones he was also having (Initial stutter when loading the level due to procederal generation).
The game works perfectly out of the box, however it is recommended to set graphics all the way to low to maximize performance
I an unable to do multiplayer with other players but otherwise, the game is working
Game crash when loading missions.
Not playable in all version of Proton (Steam: Experimental, Hotfix, 8.0-4; Glorius Edge)
Plays like its on Windows
Other than not getting a decent FPS rate, the game worked fine for me right out of the box. I tried adjusting the settings for better FPS lu
FPS stays below 40 or so...
Game does not run
It shows a message "DX12 is not supported on your system. Try running without the -dx12 or -d3d12 command line argument." I also tryed change proton version, pass PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 and PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 both without success. In the former scenario, I was able to see the intro, however the game crashes as soon as the intro finishes.
I read somewhere to run the game with Windows 10 compability mode. I've actually tried with: protontricks $STEAM_SIX_DAYS win10
But I got:

Works out of the box on Steam Deck
I've played a little over 10 hours of this game so far and you'll need to mess with the graphic settings in game if you are looking to have the game run in the 47-60+ fps range.
The below are the settings I use when playing docked and undocked with the Steam Deck.
Window Mode: Windowed Fullscreen Vsync: Off Upscaler: FidelityFX FSR 2.2 Upscaling Quality: Quality or Balanced Maximum Resolution: Low or Medium
I would keep everything else at Low or Medium.
You can tinker with as you see fit. I'm also running cryo utilities.
Online works fine. The game is in Early Access so everything is subject to change I'm assuming.
With fullscreen, mouse location was not correct. May be an issue with wayland.
Booted and plays smooth right off the rip!
No tinkering or proton changes required to play, this game has been a long time coming so I hope the game remains playable this well long into the future.
Game worked perfectly out of the box!
Was able to host multiplayer matches without issue.
