If proton (6.3) is forced on, the crashes are much less likely to occur. At least, this worked for me.
After 1 or 2 missions, the game crashed with an error message from wine (Running out of VRAM)
Out of the box its a fine experience. Some hickups but overall its good.
Since the start of season 1, there are some menus that create huge lag. Mean FPS during mission ~60. Once I open the menu, the overall FPS drops to 20 and stays there. Same happens with the new season terminal. I will update this post when they patch this.
Sometimes the game crashes at mission start. Since you can rejoin an ongoing multiplayer mission, its not a problem.
lowest setting ~40 fps medium settings ~10 fps
Multiplayer works flawlessly
Missing Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime
Wine throws the following error: The following component(s) are required to run this program:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime
It doesnt seem to install any additional software on first startup.
Startable but not playable atm.
2 FPS max. Graphic card usage at 100% at all times. VRAM gets fully filled in seconds in the main menu.
In my last report, the dependencies like DirectX and Visual C++ won't install themself. I got in touch with the Devs and they fixed it right away (matter of minutes)
You can access the menu and even play the game by just using steam play or with proton 4.2. Newer versions won't load the main menu.
max FPS is 4.
The login screen is the highest barrier to overcome. But with Proton 4.11-13 this can be solved.
Every time the game loads something, the performance will drop significantly. Luckily this happens on startup and once in a while. Overall annoying but not a dealbreaker.
After some tinkersteps this runs fine. However if a 3D Character model is visible in the UI, the framerate reduces to 15fps and stays there.

tearing and stuttering. later one feels like the shaders aren't compiled despite shader pre cache syncing
At first I had massive framerate issues. Despite lowest settings at 720p at 50% resulution scale: max 15 fps. Setting launch options to dx11 resolves that completly reaching constant 60 fps. I still have a problem with 3D characters in UI or interfaces (e.g. when you open your inventory or the character selection in MP) When such a screen occurs, the game will be choppy at around 15 fps. This persists untill you go back to the main menu. However, sometimes the performance hit isn't that big if you only access these screens for a short duration.
In the current state not recommendable. Game crash if GPU overlaods is such a major concern. Online disconnects will quit session.
gamemoderun MANGOHUD_CONFIG="fps_limit=30" mangohud %command%
Fullscreen will crash the game after ~20 seconds
Lowest setting, FPS cap at 30 at 720p resolution. GPU Utilisation is arount 60% and peaks to 90%. Avoid 100% at all cost since the game will crash then.
I get dropped of the servers frequently. (every 30 min) Soloplay isn't possible therefore. However for Multiplayer, you can easily drop in again.
Häufige kurze Framedrops auf unter 10 FPS. Sonst flüssig.
Steam Overlay lädt nicht, Origin Overlay (für Spieleinladungen) lädt nur teilweise, funktionalität ist jedoch gegeben.
Great experience, but multiplayer does not work in this patch.
Last patch broke multiplayer. Creating a lobby results in an endless "create lobby" loading screen. Native version has the same problem.
With default Proton the game runs fine, but multiplayer wont work. GE fixes the multiplayer issue.
6.21-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
6.21-GE-2
Worst scene I was capped at 15 fps. Note that this is an unoptimised playtest. This could be the same on windows.
Great game, with great performance on Linux.
Noticable loading of textures despite SSD. Textures sometimes just pop in.
Works OOB. Even all major updates are working perfectly (I only experienced the last 5 leagues)
Flawless out-of-the-box experience
Works OOBE reaches gold for me
Steam choose Proton Experimental as a default, just fyi
