Don't know why Steam did not have Proton Enabled OOTB. It just worked as expected. Saving and everything.
Couldn't seem to always save to where the game usually puts its save files - you can make your own save directory elsewhere and that works fine.
Works fine for the most part. I haven't tried the base game that much since I hopped to OpenLoco after my first scenario (which requires the base game files).
Had to change resolution to 1280x800 in-game.
Zoom out briefly freezes the game. Loading time takes longer
Doesn't start
Window opens, black screen, "Unable to initialize graphics system"
Sometimes zooming while moving the camera would throw it off to the sides of the map.
Check out OpenLoco!
Save frequently.
I'm not sure what qualifies as frequent versus regular-- but let's say I played for 4 hours and had at least 4 crashes. I'd qualify that as regular.
There is an ongoing project called OpenLoco, in the same vein as OpenTTD which hopefully resolves most of these issues and provides some much needed QoL love for this game.
The game runs. If you inadvertently alt+tab you will lose your game progress. There are issues with saving games/configurations.
Alt+Tab to new window causes crash.
Changing Resolution, or Alt+Tab can trigger crash to desktop or hang.
Run perfectly
Works almost perfectly. Changing screen resolution the first time causes a crash which may require validating files to fix.
Crashed when changing screen resolution the first time
It seems that the saving issue that other people were having has been resolved, as I was able to save and load from the default save directory. Changing the screen resolution did not cause crashes after the first failed attempt. If the game crashes on startup after attempting to change the resolution, try validating the game files. That's what worked for me, anyway.
It crashed when I changed the resolution on the first try, but worked afterwards. Does not seem to save in default directory - navigate manually to /home and then save.
Performance is fine.
- Cannot save game.
game runs and is playable, attempting to change resolution while in game caused crash
