Proton-6.1-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Proton-6.1-GE-2
I installed Origin manually by manually launching the origin installer via proton with the correct prefix set. Steam wasn't able to install it on its own.
My 1050Ti simply isn't able to keep up. After messing with the settings for a while I was able to play, but with explosions or otherwise many particles on screen I get lag spikes.
Proton 5.13-6 is the only version of proton I got the game to work on. Others made my game freeze while in the main menu or during the first cutscene.
All in-game videos (tutorial videos etc) show up as a white box for me. This is probably a codec issue and can be fixed.
I only realized this game had cutscenes after I finished playing it. Don't be like me and install WindowsMediaPlayer 9:
protontricks 204450 wmp9
Game works just fine. Stutters a bit when compiling shaders.
The in-game videos are saved to the Wine prefix, I created a symlink to deal with that. The game has some bugs but that's just because the game has some bugs. It will stutter a bit at first while compiling new shaders.
Game works flawlessly via proton
There is a native linux version which gave me some major issues with fullscreen.
protontricks 304240 -q wmp11
I first ran this with Proton 6.5 from Glorious Eggroll. This didn't work, the game will start with a black screen. To get the game to work I had to delete the previously created prefix and make a new one with Proton 5.0-10. I then installed Windows Media Player into the prefix to make sure the starting cutscenes play.
Installed: d3dx9_43 d3dx11_43 d3dcompiler_43
The launcher showed fine for me. At first I was only able to run via DX9 (switch between DX9/DX11 in the laucnher options). Later I got a few crashes in a certain level, and I turned DX11 back on, then the game started running just fine. DX9 shows some artifacting with lighting, DX11 doesn't.
Proton-5.9-GE-1-MF GloriousEggroll
Game launches with an IGameClient error. Online play is impossible.
I have spent hours trying to get this to work. I have tried everything mentioned in this thread: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/938
I have tried a lot of different proton versions, I tried creating the prefix with 4.11 then updating it with proton 5.0.
I tried enabling hidewineexports.
But nothing ended up working.
Proton-5.9-GE-1-MF GloriousEggroll
protontricks 393380 hidewineexports=enable
Squad works again since the Beta 20 update. But still has a lot of issues. EAC may break again in the future.

protontricks 393380 hidewineexports=enable
Sometimes when in fullscreen the game won't let you look 360 degrees anymore, or sometimes you can't reach all parts of the screen in the menu.
Switching the viewing method fixes this.
This was on I3
Whenever you change graphics settings while inside a match, the game fails to reach more than 20 fps. Whenever you finish playing on a map and load a new one, you'll also get no more than 20 fps. You will have to restart Squad after every map.
The tutorial crashes at the Kit Role Station part.
The game can crash when changing the graphics setting while inside a match.
There are possibly more major bugs I haven't discovered yet, but the game is overall playable. However, this game has stopped working for a long time with seemingly no reason, and only some players reported still being able to play, new players always got an error from EAC.
Any new update could completely break EAC for this game again, it's a miracle that it's working again right now.
EAC still doesn't work
The game starts with the generic EAC initilization error.
First time I played I had some issues with getting it to properly go to fullscreen. Last time I booted however it worked perfectly, stayed in fullscreen even when moving between virtual desktops in i3wm.
Proton-5.6-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Proton-5.6-GE-2
Using the Vulkan version I got somewhat decent performance.
I had to use the vulkan build, even then I have a hard time getting a smooth fps. I have to lower my graphics settings way down to get anything playable.
I did use Proton-6.5-GE-2, I am not sure how that affected gameplay. Using the unstable Vulkan build was the only way for me to squeeze out a somewhat playable fps. But my 1050TI has issues with more games...
