The game's launcher finally works in Proton 5.0, windows version plays way better than native linux version.
Tried Running the game with the latest Official Proton release 5.13-1
Tried disabling ESYNC, but still nothing worked
Game runs after disabling the Uplay overlay, the game runs decent 60+ fps on medium settings with frame dropping into the 20-30 range every once in a while, especially when loading new areas.
Played the first few missions and it ran just like on windows.
Some artifacts in cut scenes and sometimes in the open world, but runs fine other than that.
Played the entire story, worked perfectly fine, and didn't crash once.
Started a new campaign game, changed graphics settings, though anti-aliasing gets rid of all graphics except for the skybox and a few other graphics (as seen here https://imgur.com/a/iUXxlkb), I ran the game at ultra, everything worked perfectly out of the box, including in game battles
I changed the graphics options, started a game, and played a couple of battles, all seemed to work perfectly in this version of proton, even alt-tabbing seemed to work (which when I alt tabbed on windows it didnt work!)
I did not get to test multiplayer, which I would assume would also work in this version!
Running with latest proton (6.3-1) Seemed to run fine after changing graphical settings
Units turn into black rectangles when the camera is far enough away on DX11 doesnt happen on DX9
Slow performance on DX11 compared to DX9
Ran perfect after one change to a setting.
To fix post battle crashes turn "Terrain Detail" to low, I tested through all the settings to make sure of this, I played the game on "Very High" preset except for Terrain Detail on low and it worked perfectly fine
If you can get it to run given what I had listed before (Disabling DirectX11 and DXVK and lowering terrain detail) its 99% playable
DirectX 11 crashes immediately after launching and DXVK causes instability after a battle ends, for best results disable DirectX 10,11, disable DXVK and lower terrain detail to low. Been playing windows version in proton for last 20 or 30 hours and it runs great aside from it crashing every now and then.
WINED3D isnt the greatest for FPS definitely get slowdown during large battles but I am also playing on mostly high to ultra settings
Every now and again after a battle and very infrequently after you end a turn
