Science-based, chill deep sea exploration game.
One out of 10+ videos did not play (the one after day 2). Everything else worked fine.
Fixed sound loop and language in English!
Fix sound loop:
- Start "protontricks 15130 --gui":
- Install dsound (fixes sound loop)
Fix French language:
- Start "protontricks 15130 --gui":
- Open regedit
- Navigate to HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node
- You will notice that this node contains another subnode "Wow6432Node" which contains a "Ubisoft" node. We basically need to "move" this node to the correct "Wow6432Node".
- Create node HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Ubisoft\Beyond Good & Evil
- Under HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Ubisoft\Beyond Good & Evil, create DWORD "InstallLanguage" and set it to 1.
TLDR:
- Install DSound via Protontricks
- Move "HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Wow6432Node\Ubisoft\Beyond Good & Evil" contents to "HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Ubisoft\Beyond Good & Evil".

Unplayable for me because of missing textures
No space or ship textures, it's all black and the only visible things are the HUD.
Prerequisites:
- Clean install
- Wine installed (I have v5.0)
Required:
- Run from terminal: "WINEPREFIX=/steamapps/compatdata/65540/pfx/ winetricks directmusic"
- Run from terminal: "WINEPREFIX=/steamapps/compatdata/65540/pfx/ winecfg" --> Go to "Libraries" --> Remove "dsound" from list

- Install gothic_patch_108k.exe
- Install gothic1_playerkit-1.08k.exe
- Install Gothic1_PlayerKit-2.8.exe
- Install G1Classic-SystemPack-1.8.exe (make sure to select your language in the installer)
Optional (video playback):
- Enter winecfg --> Go to "Graphics" --> Enable virtual desktop with your preferred resolution NOTE: I skipped this, because I want to play the game at a lower resolution than my native desktop resolution.
With all these changes, the game runs beautifully now.
Did not have time for tinkering yet. Game window did not appear with any Proton version, including Proton-5.9-GE-5-ST.
Update: Game is not borked at all. My previous report was based on the fact that a Linux Mint extension ("Transparent Panels") broke all game starts in Steam. Not sure why.
Works out of the box with 21:9 resolution. Fun game, but a bit janky in 2020. ^^
Hotkeys randomly did not work, e.g. mapping certain special actions to keys 1-9 seemed to have no effect when pressing the keys in-game. Not sure if this is a Linux-related issue or something else. Controller works fine.

Newer GE release does not work. It must be version Proton-5.6-GE-1.
