The UI ingame is kind of a mess for controller and often requires using the touchscreen.
Adding traffic in Utah crashed it for me right out.
As another person said, listing this as playable is generous, especially taking into consideration some of the stuff valve has marked things as Unsupported for.
Also very surprised no one has listed this github page. It's an easy fix and has existed for a while. Also has fixes for some custom maps.

Use the manual script and change the .24 in the first line to .25 until the author fixes it for the new update.

Missing textures.

Double posting because the form lost the part about changing it to .25.

lost my save... somehow. it had been years so it's possible an update killed it, and it was initially on windows so it's possible it was the move to linux that killed it, not the deck specifically. no issues in bleed 2
read the other guides posted here. have to go to desktop mode and do some copying around to get it working. never tried to make it fullscreen because i didn't care
didn't try tinkering but it's a literal flash game it's not much of an issue. no problems with cursor leaving the window or anything like that
died on the final boss and didn't feel like playing all the way through again :( but unless there's a glitch after that any bugs or weirdness besides the fullscreen thing are just from it being a literal flash game
Toss graphics settings on ultra nightmare and let dynamic resolution handle the rest. Beautiful game. Runs worse if launched through desktop mode for reasons unknown. Also played on external monitor (1080p), left it on deck resolution (can only be heightened in desktop mode, which again runs worse) and let FSR handle scaling up. You might have to change aspect ratio and resolution if you switch between multiple devices that have different resolutions because resolution follows cloud save, but this is a 5 second fix.
microsoft login big annoying, but works fine
steam+L1 solves any unreadability (hold steam button for hotkeys list, fyi)
won't launch unless without eac, no surprise though
Runs 60fps at max graphics settings. No multiplayer. LAN might work because it does let you get into a Firefight match, I just haven't tried to have a friend join yet.
a wallpaper from art dlc is my desktop mode background now :) one of the best examples of a game perfect for deck. great on battery, great controller setup for the action parts, laid back puzzle stuff very good for deck. loved it
i didn't try to get it to run in fullscreen but the screensaver exe can also be run in desktop mode using protontricks lol. would love to hear someone get it going fullscreen in gaming mode
I play with some supremely stupid mods and some require console commands to work properly on any platform (specifically sv_consistency 0). THIS IS NOT A LIMITATION OF LINUX. IT'S HOW THE MOD WORKS. To my surprise, running these commands was just fine on the deck, no issues whatsoever. To play multiplayer with consistency off you have to locally host, which I did over wifi and no parties had any lag, again with over 200 mods.
I shelved L4D2 for months because after an update all my mods crashed game on PC. All my subscriptions worked out of box on deck. I guess patches were made because everything works on pc now too again. Anyway, deserves platinum. My expectations for mod functionality were 0 and they function 100/100.
Works totally fine and clean. Shows playstation button prompts but obviously that's not a real issue.
use touchscreen to enable gamepad in settings. after you do that it's a type of game that's perfectly suited to deck
barely played but no issues. seems like it's going to work as well on deck as everyone else is saying it works on pc
I suspect the steam deck itself was designed around Portal 2's experience, not the other way around. I doubt there's a game on steam whose compatibility has been more meticulously tailored to work with the deck, and it shows.
Runs at 60fps on highest graphics settings. Saw a dip to 20 if staring at one specific giant acid pool in one specific level, for some reason. Have played for 5 hours and that's the only off thing I've seen.
haven't played a whole lot of it but literally no idea why it's tagged as unsupported
i cannot think of a single game more dangerous for someone with photosensitive epilepsy
tons of fun, bound back buttons to abilities and yeeted everything as necron lord in last stand. runs on max settings at 60fps in last stand
protontricks 56400 d3dx9 win7
, since it's on deck if you get protontricks from Discover it will likely actually be flatpak run com.github.Matoking.protontricks 56400 d3dx9 win7
(annoying i know)
just make sure you use the correct GE otherwise you can't even get in the same room as a steam friend
dpad for camera, touchpad for mouse, grid hotkeys on in game settings (regardless of platform it's way easer), and bind back buttons to abilities makes last stand a ton of fun. thought it would be a million times worse. also got discord running in the background for voice which did not impact performance. 30fps instead of 60 isn't really necessary but like doubles battery life if you need to do that. again, Custom Proton: GE 6.1-GE-2, get using protonup-qt from discover
`PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% -nomovies -window`

Must force windowed mode with -window if you get black screen but have audio.
Just use the correct GE proton version or it won't work.
UPDATE: may have to use -window if you get black screen but have audio. This problem is inconsistent for me but this fixes it every time so far.
-nomovies -window -fullwindow -forceactive -lockmouse
supposedly gives you borderless window but i don't care to try

i feel obligated to make this contribution because this game helped me survive my master's. it works perfectly, right out of the box. it looks beautiful on oled and you can put it on like 7-8/10 level graphics and have pretty much no slowdowns. beautiful game
