The game works unless you open a menu up. I would consider being unable to use the mouse after closing a menu game breaking.
There seems to be camera-like noise. I am not sure if this was intended by the devs or not, but there is no option to disable film grain so I'm assuming it's unintended.
Sensitivity seems unusually high by default. When trying to opening and closing a menu the mouse became completely unresponsive.
The game instantly crashes as soon as it launches
The game will run for about 1-3 seconds before quitting.
Game audio has significant issues and slightly lower then expected performance.
Audio was completely out of sync and so choppy that it all just sounded like a garbled collection of sounds rather then game audio.
More stuttering then usual on Windows with the same settings.
Game runs and plays well, however I was unable to test multiplayer (either split-screen or online) due to lack of players.
Very infrequent lighting glitches. Not noticeable unless you are looking for them.
Overall, I'd suggest the proton version of the game over the native one due to native's instability especially on heavily modded servers.
more stuttering than expected
64-bit/Chromium versions will NOT launch at all. 32-bit version works as expected.
some addons have a larger performance impact than expected given the hardware which lead to occasional slowdowns.
again, make sure you play the 32-bit version. 64-bit does not work properly.
Missing textures (map appears black) if using DirectX, switch to OpenGL to solve.
You might be wondering why even use the proton version when there is a native version. The main reason why you'd want to use the proton version over native is if you are running on Wayland and have multiple different resolution monitors, which can cause some issues for this game. In that aspect, it does work better than native.
Was able to play as well as you would expect running natively
Crashes occur regularly, especially in settings menus. The game is fine otherwise but I consider this game breaking.
Game crashed when trying to change some graphics settings
Extremely laggy without using the given launch options. At max settings 1440p, I get 4fps. With the launch options, I get 45-90fps.
DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command%
a slight bit of lag occasionally although that might just be my connection.
The framerate is way too low in order for it to be playable, with massive stuttering also being an issue
Some tanks don't load their thumbnail images and loading a tank was a bit slower then usual
Framerate was about half of what it should have been. Normally gets about 50-70fps on Windows, however getting 20-30fps here.
There's a chance that hardware or configuration might play into this, but regardless; the game runs worse on Proton/Linux then natively on Windows.
Works perfectly
In my previous review, I had forgotten to disable the compositor before starting the game up. Now that I've done that the game runs even smoother then it does on Windows.
Game will not get past loading screen. Use native if possible
Was hoping to use TF2BD while playing on Linux which is why I was even doing this in the first place. I was also trying to avoid the alt-tab bug that occurs when you are running TF2 on multiple monitors. Game will not get beyond "Loading" screen.
The game works near perfectly
very minor audio stuttering when starting up the game and viewing the menu, but does not occur when battles are happening.
as far as performance goes, it seems to be slightly better then Windows which surprised me. Otherwise the game functions entirely how you'd expect it to.
