Runs excellent at max settings. Works with a controller/fightstick too.
Works using Proton Experimental.
Runs fine during gameplay but oddly enough randomly stutters during cutscenes. Not a big deal for me.
Works with Proton Experimental. At the time of this writing, the highest stable version of Proton for me was 5.13-4. Ran fine at max settings at 1080p and 2.5K. -Gentoo -Kernel 5.4.80 -Nvidia driver 455.28
Just Hit Play & Go
-works without tinkering -menus get funky sometimes but not a biggie -when i quit, steam still shows it as running, and then i hit Stop and it stops.
Newest update broke game
Used to work. Get "Fatal Error: failed to load il2cpp" . Devs don't care and say we don't support linux. Doesn't work with proton 6.3, experimental, or proton-6.9-GE
Change to Proton Experimental and works.
Works and with a controller too.
Game will lock control of full-screen. Only way to access desktop is to switch to a different workspace.
Runs excellent at max settings. Intro video gives black screen and have to hit ESC to skip it.. Expansion for game runs well also.
Runs excellent at max settings. Works with a controller/fightstick too.
Works flawlessly like a native game
Just hit play on Steam. No tinkering necessary.
Just hit Play & go
-plays great
-joystick didn't work until I disabled Steam Inputs under game properties...so, disabling the joystick in Steam made the joystick work in game. ¯\(ツ)/¯
Works great with fight stick. (Gentoo, nvidia driver)
Fullscreen doesn't hide menubar from Desktop (Cinnamon/Gnome). The solution is to change resolution, then change back again. Minor annoyance.
THE PRESENT
-works! but saved games still won't load
-use GloriousEggroll's Proton-6.1-GE-2 (no Protontricks/Winetricks/Tinker needed)
-graphical settings: high everything | 1440p | vsync ON | fast timers optimization | full borderless window
Misc Other
-Campaign: haven't tested!
-Lagginess: issuing unit commands felt less responsive as compared to how it ran on Windows. But enabling the setting "fast timers optimization" seemed to fix it.
-Fonts: cutoff at loading screens and still funky during gameplay. Not a big deal.
Installation Notes
-unzip GloriousEggroll's Proton into the "compatibility.d" directory and that's it
-didn't install anything else
-restart Steam. Go to TAB game properties. Force specific compatibility tool: choose the GloriousEggroll Proton version you installed.
THE PAST
-if using Steam alone--no mods above--with Proton experimental/5.x/4.x versions caused game to crash to desktop after first 30 seconds of starting a map.
Played natively at max settings and 2.5K resolution. Works fine, loads fine. Crashed once in 5 hours. No slowdowns. Heard lots of problems with mods so avoided mods.
