Instantly banned after getting into a lobby. Now that they're banning accounts, will probably never be able to play this game.
If you want a ban on your account thanks to EA, go ahead and run it.
Runs perfect out of the box. Haven't tried on other versions of proton as GE is my go to, but this game ran flawlessly .
Sit back and enjoy, you can run gamemode if you'd like but I didn't notice much difference in gameplay. A very enjoyable game that ran perfectly our of the box.
Had to turn off AA and AOC plus run everything on low settings to get playable 60fps
Turned most settings on low/medium and changed resolution scaling to 80 percent, also disabled AO. This kept framerates well above 60fps, still noticing dips in multiplayer here and there but not as bad as before.
Ran great out of the box with steam proton experimental
Runs great, medium settings 1080p, solid 60fps the entire time. Best looking and best running BF to date on linux. Had a little hang up installing. Steam installer stuck on "installing origin thin client." Used system monitor to kill process, then it opened fine
Occassionally save files get corrupted, recommend saving at multiple points in game.
Texture pop ins, flickering in some scenes
With ANY other version of proton the game will crash on loading scenes.
Great visual novel game, works flawlessly
Works great, didn't check if it was compatible with any controller scheme, pretty much just left click through the entire game.
Plays well with Proton Experimental and Proton 6.21GE2. I would recommend using the adaptive resolution scaling.
Had to turn down the resolution to 1920x1080 instead of my monitor resolution, 2560x1080 and use the adaptive resolution mode with medium settings to keep FPS above 60.
When trying to change graphical settings, was alt tabbed out of the game and unable to get back into it or quit the game. Had to log out of my account, in order to quite the game.
No matter what changes in quality settings the game seems to want to play at 40fps. Only game that performs like this.
Had problems with proton experimental and proton 8, game wouldn't launch. It would launch to a black screen. Using GE proton seems to have fixed the problem.
Framerate is stuck at 40fps unless you modify Grub to turn split_lock_detect=off .
So, to unlock the FPS of God of War on Linux to anything higher than 40 you need to modify Grub.
- In Ubuntu or Fedora(Fedora you will need to install gedit or open with whatever text editor you have) you can open up the terminal and type this command: sudo gedit /etc/default/grub
- Find GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT
- In that line are a set of " " and inside the quotations are the words "quiet splash" or something like it. Put a space after the word splash and then put split_lock_detect=off inside the quotations.
- Click save
- Ubuntu/Debian distros then update grub in terminal by typing: sudo update-grub
- In Fedora type: sudo grub2-mkconfig --output=/boot/grub2/grub.cfg
- Reboot your PC and now you'll get high FPS in God of War.
Launches but kicks you out of servers.
Glorious Egg 6.12-GE-1
Launches, able to pick a server and log in. After 1 minute kicked because of easy anti cheat.
gamemoderun %command%
Framerate dips down to the single digits on very high settings, changed to high and the dips are less drastic
Game frequently crashes on loading or fast travel, sometimes causing the graphics driver to crash. This freezes the computer and forces a hard reboot to recover.
Game runs fine on all settings, including ultra on GE Proton with no issues.
Game runs great, a little slow on the combat sections thanks to all the textures and particle effects flying everywhere. You will need newer hardware to get decent FPS at high settings, especially at 1440p from what I've read. I currently game at 1080, so my rig is more than enough to handle what this game throws at it in that resolution.
Great game, able to launch with Proton 8.0-4 just fine. Unable to play with Proton experiemental.
Was able to joing a game and play with no issues at all.
EAC won't install keeps booting from servers
If you do not select a choice right away on Steam Deck it refuses to recognize ANY of the controls
Unplayable on Steam Deck. If you do not IMMEDIATELY select a choice given in a game the game will stop recognizing any input from the Steam Deck. Very playabel on desktop Linux.
Stability issues and the 2k launcher make this game a hard pass.
If you switch windows in gnome via expose or minimize the game it will disappear and not come back, forcing a shutdown.
No matter what graphical settings the game has caused my pc to crash 3 times. It will play fine for awhile, then dark screen and reboot. All other games play fine, even more graphically demanding ones. Unable to root cause the issue.
Easy anticheat launches, opens to black screen and crashes.
SteamDeck=1 %command%
Tried all versions of GE-Proton8 and GE-Proton9-1 with no luck. Steam's proton experimental, proton 8 and proton 9 beta resulted in the same thing.
Multiplayer works without a hitch, no stuttering or frame drops in game and all the audio functions normally.
Game installs, launches easy anticheat , and plays beautifully with Ge-Proton.
Attempting to enable voice chat crashes game
Crashing when attempting to enable voice chat or when recording via OBS.
Running on any other version of proton gives an error, so no GE. Attempting to enable voice chat causes game to crash. Recording with OBS is hit or miss and can cause the game to unexpectedly crash.
Borked after update 1.7.0
Boots to black screen, hangs and dies. No longer runs.
Game runs fine on Proton Experimental. For those who are having low FPS issues, try disabling your integrated graphics in your bios. The game , for whatever reason, kept using my integrated graphics and not my discrete graphics card so I had to disable it.
Runs great with proton experimental
Frame rates drop here and there when initially loading an area. Kept settings on medium with motion blur turned off and was able to keep frame rates between 68-74.
After awhile multiplayer boots after 5 minutes and crashes the game and froze my system as well.
After alt tabbing out of the game, alt tabbed back an and the game no longer recognized the mouse input in game. In menu's was fine, but in game only the keyboard was recognized. Had to reboot the game to fix.
Slow framerates no matter what setting in multiplayer, unable to see an fps counter but I'd guess sub 50 by the way the game was handling.
Unable to launch with any version of Proton other than experimental, and after awhile multiplayer became unplayable as it would boot you from the game in under 10 minutes. This game is unplayable at this time.
Won't launch, borked
Game will not launch with Proton 6.3-8 or Proton Experimental
Game keeps crashing with proton experimental any time you adjust graphical settings, had to switch to older version( 6.3-8) in order to change resolution in game.
