Requires use of the touchscreen or remapping of a touchpad to mouse to get past the launcher. The launcher can be bypassed by renaming "ShippingPC-BmGame.exe" to "BmLauncher.exe".
There is a splash image that normally shows as the game is launching. On Steam Deck in game mode it is not centered the way it would be on a desktop. This is the only windowing issue, the game works perfectly well after it loads.
I had given up on being able to play this game a few months ago, even with ProtonGE. Latest improvements to ProtonGE bring this game not just to Linux but to the Steam Deck! I highly recommend people switch to Desktop mode, open Discover, and look up a thing called protonup-qt. This little app lets you easily download any version of ProtonGE.
Works out of the box
Flawless experience. I've been wanting to play this game on Linux for a long time and now I finally can!
An old graphical bug seems to be fixed
On the scenario The Last Autumn there was a weird graphical bug with the ocean. I don't know if it was caused by nvidia drivers (I run AMD now) or if it's something that got fixed in Proton, but this game runs 100% flawlessly.
I wasn't expecting this game to work as well as it does. The default control scheme takes a little getting used to but it covers everything that you really need it to. No performance issues to speak of.
Better than Windows!
I tried playing this on Windows to see the fancy raytracing they added since the PS4 release but I was faced with some pretty horiffic graphical issues there that don't happen on Linux. Yes, it's actually better to play this on Linux than on Windows!
It was working a few months ago. What changed?
The Lutris scripts are a dead end, over a year old for all three. PlayOnLinux didn't work either. Winetricks options
Trying to install with Lutris and PlayOnLinux both resulted in the installer for the Glyph launcher to crash before Glyph could be installed. You can get Steam to download all of the files, but the Glyph launcher refuses to start no matter what Proton version I select.
Platinum experience.
The fixes put into the latest stable Proton make this game perfectly playable!
Game crashes after the intro videos
Tried using Proton 8 and Proton GE. The same error that existed 2 years ago is still giving problems.
Haven't tested in a while but it works now!
I hope people start looking into this game on Linux again instead of just leaving it forgotten because it works now! Going to test on my Steam Deck and write a report.
Even though this game has been broken for a long time this is no longer the case and the Steam Deck experience is optimal, even if it's missing the really nice button glyphs. I might need to check options for that. Great puzzle game optimized for controller.
Everything I said in my previous report applies except that it does show the correct button prompts. If Valve ever gets to this game they will undoubtedly list it as Verified.
I haven't seen any issues at all, works flawlessly with no tinkering.
Works out of the box with Proton 7, full platinum rataing.
Crash on startup
I was able to get to the UE4 intro but that was it.
Once you get past the loading issues this game plays well.
On starting a new game there's a noticeable hanging that makes it impossible to see what's going on, but gameplay is still ocurring. Give it a moment and it clears up.
Others have suggested pausing until textures finish loading. Probably worth trying.
