Just as good as it ever was, but with a few minor issues to be aware of.
Did a full custom controller mapping as none of the community ones were all that good.
Some transparent textures darken the surfaces behind them; they shouldn't do this. Not sure if it's a Proton issue or happens in Windows as well, though.
The comptalk hacking minigame requires slightly more precise mouse movements than the trackpads can provide, meaning you'll need a wireless mouse to actually succeed at them.
There are a couple of issues involving a sequence a couple of hours in where you trail a suspect: the autosave mid-way through the trail deletes your photos if you load it (you can restore an earlier save, where they'll be intact, but it renders this specific save useless) and completing the trail will sometimes cause the cutscene that follows it to freeze. Closing and restarting the game, repeating the trail, then letting the cutscene play again will suddenly work.
Not sure why this isn't Steam Deck verified: it works perfectly
Built a radial menu on the left track pad for quick access to the menus.
Set TDP to 5, locked framerate to 60 Hz.
Performs well at default settings.
Some of the subtitle text and hints are a little small.
The shadows flicker badly if you turn on half rate shading.
Runs really well after some minor tweaks. The only real issue is the partially broken videos.
The configuration program doesn't seem to function correctly but won't let you run the game unless it has generated a system information file.
By creating an empty text file named SystemInformation.xml in ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Jade Empire/data the game can be made to run.
The configuration program, as mentioned above, doesn't work correctly. Additionally, the launcher program doesn't accept gamepad inputs so you have to hold the Steam button down to temporarily enable the mouse cursor so you can click the "Play" button if you're using the default controller config.
Videos do not play correctly: they appear half-way down the screen, partially cut off.
The game doesn't seem to recognise input from the on-screen keyboard. This is only an issue when entering a character name, although there is an option to accept a default or randomly generated name instead.
I was able to input a custom name by editing the controller configuration so that the letters I wanted to input were bound to the physical buttons on the Steam Deck then reverting back to the default control scheme when I was done.
Runs fairly well without issues on Steam Deck.
Set the TDP limit to 11 watts to lighten the battery load. Doesn't seem to significantly degrade performance.
A surprisingly fun FMV adventure game with some great puzzles. Runs far better than I expected it to on the Steam Deck.
It's a little small in places but not unreadable.
Slight crackling in places but it soon returns to normal. Again, bearable.
Some very minor glitches like the mouse sometimes not refreshing near the edge of the screen.
The game will occasionally slow down for a few seconds before returning to normal, usually either when opening the save menu or during the odd FMV sequence. It's entirely beareable.
