Enabled back grips for jumping and crouching. Modified pads to use mouse and WASD for kb/mouse-style looting :)
Also joystick gyro for improved accuracy.
Exactly as on windows.
I found gamescope added unnecessary input lag and just opted to cap the framerate through launch options. You could also go a step further and look into LatencyFlex, but it's perfectly fine without IMO.
Difficult to aim properly without gyro, controller aiming feels a little sluggish in general
Drains the battery a bit at 60fps and using traditional controller inputs isn't ideal, but it's absolutely beatable.
Uses very little power, i didn't but if you really wanted you could probably limit the TDP for even longer battery life.
Renamed "Videos" folder in local files.
Occasional clipping
A few glitchy textures
Cursor doesn't disappear from the center of the screen during gameplay. It seems the game can't hide it like in windows...
After getting into a multiplayer game it very often freezes on a single frame. It very clearly runs fine in the background (can hear game audio and game reacts to my actions...). I could only "fix" this by restarting the game and trying again.
It reflects pretty poorly on your account's retention rate when you have to disconnect from most of your games due to major visual bugs. Wouldn't recommend playing lots of multiplayer in its current state if you value your time.
Very impressive that it works at all on GE. Offline play seems to yield best results. Just needs a push in the right direction by the developers to be fully supported!
Played with mouse gyro for aiming.
10W TDP limit in open world, 7W in smaller areas
Displays incorrect keys/glyphs when mouse gyro is enabled
A little bit of playing around with graphics and TDP, but it runs at 60fps on all low/off 800p. A couple crashes here and there, but overall really nice experience considering it's running on deck!
In Fullscreen mode the game vertically stretches from 16:9 to 16:10, with no real change in window content. Not ideal for some details such as character portraits, but functionally a non-issue. Resolution can be easily changed to 16:9 through the properties menu.
Handles well, virtually no complaints.
PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 %command%
Water shines black instead of normal white. Shows up briefly, easy to ignore.
Sometimes had to restart game to get controller to detect over bluetooth
Performance is slashed in half on Nvidia card. Definitely hold off if you aren't willing to deal with it or aren't dual-booting with windows. That said, it's absolutely playable. Just beware, you'll be leaving tons of performance on the table
Changed left stick from 8-way WASD to analog emulation. Works flawlessly with this game. Used radial menu activated by holding LB for selecting slots in hotbar. RB to Shift Click. Changed Left D-pad to ping for multiplayer, Down D-pad to R for rotating builds. Set LS to toggle shift instead of hold. Select to M, Start to Esc. X to E, Y to Tab, B to Esc (For backing out of menus) Used back grips for jumping and holding sprint.
All lowest settings except Medium textures and Hard shadows. Also played with limiting TDP/GPU clock, you could push it to 10W 900Mhz if you value battery life over a stable 60fps.
Great experience for online.
Went with Proton Experimental after trying 7.0-3 and having it crash on me during a game. After swapping to Experimental was very stable no issues
Game launched at a very small resolution. Quickly changed it from windowed to fullscreen in the display options, 800p works just fine.
Few UI bits here and there with small text. Readable, though.
I had to unlock my TDP and drop all of the graphics settings to get anything RESEMBLING 30fps. Pretty disappointed in the optimisation for steam deck.
20fps steam deck gameplay even with all settings at their lowest -- Avoid unless there's an update.
30FPS cap
I found that the game works nicely at 30fps, hovering around 15 - 18 watts power usage with default graphics settings. 40fps is certainly possible but you'll get lower battery life out of it.
A perfect fit, IMO. Runs flawlessly, uses a bit of battery but I didn't bother trying to optimise it. Would recommend for sure.
Binded jump and crouch to the back buttons.
I personally found clicking in the sticks not great for precise movement, so I used the back grip buttons instead.
Runs great, I'm sure it could be further optimised battery-wise but I didn't find it super intensive anyway.
Right trackpad as mouse (press down to click)
With a scaling of 0.8 (In-game display settings) the game is perfect on steam deck! Something rivalling vampire survivors or tunic for great deck games, I would absolutely recommend it for someone with time to kill!
