I play this game with it taking up the full screen and keeping its own windows within the game. Having only tested that, it works great.

I expect a typical gamer (even on linux) to not know how to tinker that much and would think that the expirienced bugs are bad artifacts
%command% --single-window
Without proton experimental (and the proton trick) the game would not run properly causing me to be able to play but barely but after it works well
The game is amazing after the fixes and I would recommend for you to play it and hope it gets fixed later on

When playing in desktop mode with the in-game window scale option set to about 0.75, it's a decent experience. Not so much in gaming mode.
The game has good support for gamepad controls, except when trying to navigate menus, where you pretty much have to use trackpad mouse control to get anything done.
GPU usage increases sharply as more enemies and objects appear on screen from around 15 minutes into a run and beyond
Playing in gaming mode is kind of a pain, as windows will often become unresponsive when trying to do simple things like quitting the game. This becomes worse if you also decrease the window scale option (which is basically a requirement to prevent the game from being crazy difficult), as that causes Gamescope to glitch out.

The game window was shifted to the bottom left and was going off screen. Avoid this by entering fullscreen on the window that says "Godot game engine" before the game loads.
Occasional hiccups where the game and audio would freeze for 10-20 seconds when new bosses were loaded. Does not always occur.
Fullscreen the Godot window before the game loads to avoid windowing issues.

Works fine
The game is in one real window and makes it's own fake windows inside of itself. It will not interfere with your window manager.

The the game runs well as long as the "fake windows" is enabled in the game's settings. Otherwise, the game does not function.
the windows flicker permanently when turning off the "fake windows" option in the game's settings
My chromebook occasionally freezes up if the "fake windows" setting is not enabled
The windows do not move correctly unless "fake windows" is enabled in settings
Although there is a Steam Deck/Linux native version of WindowKill, it does not work on ChromeOS. use the Proton Experimental Compatibility layer instead.

the game works really well
dont be scared if your using a WM the game launches in a way that it wont be fucked up by tiling windows BUT if you wanna see your wallpaper while you play make sure you dont have any windows in your workspace.

Window screen in gaming mode is restricted to 1280 x 800, making it much harder.

No problems here.
This game works just as well as it does in Windows. This is pure conjecture since I don't have a Steam Deck, but I believe this game would be best enjoyed in the desktop mode.
The only caveat is that fake windows are permanently enabled, and while there's a theme for Ubuntu's "Yaru", there is no theme for KDE Plasma's "Breeze" [which is the theme used in the Deck's desktop mode by default].
It ran fine but I will say the resolution you play on effects this game a lot, the low resolution of the Steam Deck makes it a big harder.

Runs perfectly out of the box, but for the real experience, prefer playing on Windows
Sometimes the game starts on the wrong monitor, but thankfully the developer added an option to force a starting monitor.
The game is (and should be) played on a single monitor, however you can play on multiple monitors by disabling the single monitor
option in the settings.
I say if you want the real windowkill experience, you should most definitely play it on Windows (proton doesn't work well with the game). If you do, you WILL need a beefy computer since this game uses lots of windows.
Now I'm going to slightly spoil the magic of the game, and I'm very sorry for this, but the Linux version actually uses one giant fake transparent window on which virtual windows are drawn to. This is supposed to be an option in the settings to improve performance, but for compatibility reasons (which is very understandable if you understand the differences between X11 and Wayland), on the native Linux version this option is forcibly turned on. It doesn't make the game less enjoyable, but it might also make it a little more fair (accidents like clicking outside the window and losing focus don't happen).
Works perfectly out of the box, at least with X11. Did not test Wayland yet.

Perfect native experience. Played with all characters at least twice and it just works.
The game will slow down at the 40 to 50 ish minute mark because it spawns more and more enemies. Some information about my setup: I am running Gnome 45.4, on an Nvidia laptop, with the entire xorg session being rendered using the Nvidia card. I also have my laptop hooked up to a second external monitor.

%command% --single-window
crashes steam deck if not run with --single-window
wonderful game. works perfectly in --single-window mode

The game while, yes, at first is playable, when opening the shop it just freezes.
The game freezes when you open the shop. This happens (to me atleast) while using proton and while playing native

works great
had some issues with proton at first, native works great anyways

With a controller (single player):
- Input selection wouldn't cooperate
- Inputs sometimes don't work (especially in settings)
- Can't end a run without the use of a touchscreen or mouse
- The tabs in settings don't take you to the listed tab
- Can't close the game without the use of a touchscreen or mouse
Gaming Mode doesn't work, as launching the game restarts the device

Right trackpad as mouse (press down to click)
With a scaling of 0.8 (In-game display settings) the game is perfect on steam deck! Something rivalling vampire survivors or tunic for great deck games, I would absolutely recommend it for someone with time to kill!

ENG: The game works perfectly, despite the lack of a native version for Linux. The distribution of the game was downloaded from Itch.io (since at the time of testing, the game has not yet been released on Steam). The launch was carried out using Wine Staging and there were no problems.
