I play Metal Gear Solid V. Much more intense graphically and it runs way better on ultra than this game does on Low. That says a lot.
Hi end laptop, I can only get 30 fps at best. I have tried everything from native to proton. Tried Vulkan, GL, tried different versions of proton, GE, tried different version of linux kernel and nvidia drivers. Even tried different OS. popOS (dont recommend), Debian, Ubuntu, and Nobara. Super poor performance. It used to be a lot better during pre V1.
Frozen on starup sometimes.
Used to work mostly great, wont launch anymore
I used to play just fine. It would get laggy over time then require a restart. Now today it won't even launch anymore. Don't really know what happened.
Loss of frames over time
My system updated to kernel 6.9 and that borked the game. It would no longer launch. After reverting back to 6.8 everything worked just fine. Side note, I believe if you use the steam contoller input it will drop frames more and more over time from my experience.
Don't upgrade to Nvidia Driver 560
For a a week I could not play. The game wouldnt even open. It turns out it was Nvidia driver 555 and 560.
Initially, I tried switching proton versions and because of denuvo I got locked out of the game. I ended up downgrading to Nvidia 550 and it works perfect again.
Afterwhich, I saw reports about 560 and Proton crashing games, and downgraded performance.
For me I couldnt install 550 on my system becasue popOS would force 560. So I installed nvidia-driver-550-server, and everything worked perfect. Good luck!
Run 100% until after first boss. Freezes when I try to open the door to the next area. Happens every time. I cannot get passed that door. Otherwise runs perfectly.
Update on my last review. Game breaking bugs on nvidia 390 drivers. Updated to 410.66 and all the problems went away.
I used to be able to play this game before I reinstalled it. Now during game play and in settings menu it constantly flashes to a black screen preventing me from playing. Not sure what happened. I tried disabling D3D11 and all I see in the main menu is the buttons. No character or background.
Does it work? Yes. Crashes maybe once during a 2 hour play session. Characters often get stuck and I am forced to use another character as the leader. Mouse is misaligned with the cursor, so you are often clicking on the wrong items. If you go fullscreen the problem is even worse. Fullscreen does not work with Anti-Aliasing on. You will have a cursor but just a black screen. I have tried the tweaks stated in the reviews.
Constant Freezing
Constant freezing which is sad given my hardware. I guess thats just how games are these days.
I tried launching with default proton and it fails to launch. I used the GE kernel and it launched without any issues. I did not tinker with default proton. So there is a chance it works fine.
Getting ~23 FPS on a high end machine. Many screen freezes. I would consider unplayable
