Triggers don't work. AC1 controls without triggers are generally fine.
Game doesn't turn off fully because of ubisoft connect. Quit ubisoft connect separately after game exit.

UBISOFT BROKE GAME: Problem: Ubisoft removed a bunch of important single player content when removing "multiplayer support". These include Desmond's Memories, The Lost Archives dlc, and in my case also broke game elements like the Piri Reis bomb missions.
Solution Desmond's Memories + maybe other: terminal: steam steam://open/console console in steam: download_depot 201870 201871 3788743185036498953 move contents of "home_root/.steam/debian-installation/ubuntu12_32/steamapps/content/app_201870/depot_201871" to "home_root/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/common/Assassin's Creed Revelations/" #precise folder may differ depending on installation
Ensure it's working: delete "~/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/common/Assassin's Creed Revelations/systemdetection.dll"
Didn't find solution to The Last Archive and couldn't be bothered.
Game doesn't turn off properly, probably because of Ubisoft Connect. Turn off manually

Some reverb on some sounds relating to churches and computers
Alt-tab breaks fullscreen window, requires restart
Xboxone S bluetooth triggers don't work but not needed
Occasional pauses that become more common and longer throughout the game
Two crash to desktops for a full playthrough probably related to pauses
NO INTRO MOVIES: (game_root/Videos/) UBI_LOGO.bik -> UBI_LOGO.bik_bak (game_root/Videos/en/) warning_disclaimer.bik -> warning_disclaimer.bik_bak
Ubisoft Connect does not save log in details requiring inputting password every play.
Doesn't turn off properly in Steam. Probably Ubisoft Connect running in the background. Manually stop after game exit.

Unless you have the hardware to brute force your way through the performance issues, this is probably not worth playing.
Unless max framerate is locked, the game feels like maybe 25 fps. It feels awful. The game is also poorly optimized forcing me to massively reduce settings throughout the game to reliably hit the maximum framerate as the issue becomes worse as you progress through the game.
Sometimes the game freezes on loads. Also the game sometimes needs to be restarted after changing the graphics settings because of a freeze.
Tried Linux native too. No flashlight, missing textures, and some odd graininess or aliasing. Definitely not ready for prime time.
Excellent minus the cutscenes issue.
Some cutscenes wouldn't play. I tried the script solution mentioned by others but it didn't work. Every time I solved a problem with the script, a new one popped up. Ultimately I just watched the cutscenes on YouTube.
Works perfectly. Maybe a tad sluggish compared to native but reliably works.
Linux native works fine for Half Life 2 but not for Episode 1 as it has shadow glitches and doesn't play the intro properly. I played Episode 1 & 2 with Proton.
Works great.
Consider using downloadable patches 100-percent-completion, World-Location-Settings, and Bullseye-Rifle-Fix, to address very marginal issues.
Seems to work fine.
There's a bunch of weirdness with the game, but I think that's because of the game. It's a strange one.
Removed Games for Windows Live with Xliveless from pcgamingwiki
Tried with native but mod support was spotty. My big issue was that campaign mods that required supporting hak files weren't detecting them (mods like The Prophet and Swordflight Saga). Proton fixed the problem.
General problem with my XboxOne bluetooth controller - still attempting to resolve
Didn't start initially with FxFalse != removeResult error.
Solution was to install PhysX version 9.19.0218 in wine prefix
As per instructions elsewhere:
Launch the game first, then while the game is running, go to ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/3590/pfx/drive_c/ProgramData/PopCap Games/PlantsVsZombies. Copy popcapgame1.exe to ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Plants Vs Zombies/ and rename the file to PlantsVsZombies.exe.
On seed selection fps fell to around 8. Solution was to swap the .exe file.
Just requires manual inputting of gamepad controls.
Problem: No widescreen Solution: download Nemesis fix from pcgamingwiki, move to game_root, add resolution to pop2.ini, execute upx.bat in wineprefix
Problem: No gamepad and wrong defaults Solution: Manual inputs (note Z-axis on triggers may break some abilities)
Movement [LS] Walk Toggle Roll/Jump/Eject/Accept [A] Walling/Block [RT] Sword Attack [X] Grab/2nd Weapon Attack [Y] Pickup/Throw/Climb down/Cancel [B] Rewind/Slowdown [LT] Camera Look [RB] Alternate View [LB] Reset Camera [RS click] Navigation Map [Back] Menu [Start] Camera [RS] Menu Up [D-Pad Up] Menu Down [D-Pad Down] Menu Left [D-Pad Left] Menu Right [D-pad Right]
Audio/video syncing errors and delays in cutscenes when speaking
Needs vcrun2005 or the launcher won't start
There's a few problems I came across.
Problem: Bright light smudging across the screen making the game unplayable Solution: Use GE-Proton8-13
Problem: Extreme amounts of fog Solution: in game_root/Hardware.ini set ForceVSFog=1 InvertFogRange=0
Problem: No widescreen option Solution: use nemesis widescreen patch from pcgamingwiki, place contents in game_root, set resolution in pop.ini. If fog issue recurs turn fog off and on again in the in-game options
Problem: No gamepad Solution: Just requires manual input of gamepad controls
LS: Move RS: Camera X: Attack A: Jump Y: Dagger B: Cancel LT: Rewind RT: Special Action LB: Alternate View RB: First-Person RS: Reset Camera
Mostly fine.
Sometimes fails to load new areas, often succeeds after restarting the game. Rarely crashes to desktop.
Requires dotnet40 xna40 to start.
TURN ON VSYNC: (~/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/compatdata/15620/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/My Games/Dawn of War 2/Settings/configuration.lua) setting = "vsync" -> value = 1

Alt-tabbing causes the keyboard shortcuts to not register properly forcing a restart.
Sometimes the game froze. Only happened on the Meridian maps.
