The patch cannot be installed because Proton cannot detect that the game is installed. Workaround: install Steam in a separate wine prefix (e.g. use the Wine Steam runner in Lutris), install the game on that version of Steam, and run the patch installer in that wine prefix, at which point you can copy the adult.xp3 and adult.xp3.sig files to use the patch elsewhere.
Tried installing Media Foundation workaround. Launches fine, but freezes once the game starts.
Tried changing the quality settings in the launcher, but no help. Launched but froze on start in borderless mode on both medium & low quality. Launched but stuck on black screen with no menu in windowed mode. Attempting to switch to fullscreen mode crashed the launcher.
Linux version is broken; select "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool" in the Properties window to install the Windows version.
Slightly laggy in overworld random encounters.
5.9-GE-8-ST Recommend https://davidotek.github.io/protonup-qt to install & manage
Videos freeze with default Proton.
Set launch option PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command% Otherwise the game is too laggy to play comfortably.
Even with the D9VK fix, menus are still a bit laggy when using a controller. Recommend using a controller for gameplay but mouse for menu navigation.
In windowed mode, the mouse cursor becomes invisible when moved outside the game window. Otherwise runs perfectly.
Starts out fine, but crashes at the start of level 7 with "Fatal error in gc: GetThreadContext failed."
Tested with adult patch.
Ending and OP movies don't work. Game will show a black screen when you get to the OP movie, but if you close and restart the game you can skip past it. Ending movie is skipped.
Opening logos display and custom mouse cursor is visible, but afterwards there's just a black screen with no way to proceed.
Crashed a few times for no obvious reason. No save data lost.

Froze on starting bonus game; worked fine on relaunch. Several minigames were bugged and had to be skipped. Not sure if Wine-specific issue.

Lags on scene transitions, but still playable.
Transitions between scenes are a bit laggy, but nothing game-breaking.
Steam overlay is buggy unless you disable the game's custom cursor.
Linux version broken (just creates empty install folder). Check "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool" to download the Windows version, which runs perfectly.
Fullscreen works in light mode but not standard mode.
Tends to crash during fights esp. when lots of spell effects are going off & when rapidly pausing/unpausing. Workaround that has greatly reduced the frequency of crashes for me: in the pre-launch options, set rendering to Direct 3D and uncheck AlphaBit & Smooth, and in winecfg, change the Windows version to XP. Also recommend changing the quicksave key as Ctrl + S often doesn't register properly and saving frequently.
Set antialiasing to 2x as some other reports noted issues with higher settings. No problems adjusting sound & graphics settings in-game, but adjusting them in the configure options from the launcher didn't work as hardware settings weren't properly detected.
Crashed once, graphics slightly blurry, and trying to move the camera with right click + drag makes the camera go haywire even if the sensitivity is turned down. Also if the launcher is closed without launching the game, the process hangs and might need to be force quit. Haven't noticed any serious issues with gameplay, however.
Some luck installing dazip-based mods by renaming DAUpdater.exe in the bin_ship folder to DAOrigins.exe, running the game from the launcher to open the updater, installing the dazip file, and then restoring the original .exe filenames. Not extensively tested with mods.
Windowed mode doesn't show full game. Works fine in fullscreen mode.
Starts to lag after playing for several hours; fixes on closing and relaunching the game.
Install ffdshow using protontricks to play videos correctly.
Attempting to toggle fullscreen mode or widescreen mode causes the game to appear windowed zoomed in and/or with an incorrect aspect ratio. Restarting the game fixes the problem.
Game sometimes minimizes during videos and transitions, but this doesn't cause any actual gameplay issues.
Game may freeze on exiting and need to be force quit.
Starts in fullscreen by default but nothing is clickable. To switch to windowed mode, open steamapps/compatdata/294390/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Roaming/Gogii/Pharaoh/bigfishnc/data/displayMode.dat in a text editor and change the value to 0.
Audio does not work in native Linux version. In the properties window, check "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool" to run the Windows version.
Set launch option: PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command%
Game occasionally gets stuck when starting a level. Press Escape to continue.
Farm Frenzy 4 is unplayable due to flickering graphics. Farm Frenzy 3 has issues with buttons randomly not working, which resolves on returning to the main menu. Gone Fishing, Ancient Rome, and Viking Heroes are very sluggish, playable but just barely. The other seven games run with no apparent issues. Not sure how to handle rating with a collection like this where some games work and others don't. Feel free to change my rating as seems appropriate.
Set launch option: PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command%
Crashes in fullscreen
Cursor is a bit "floaty." Switching to system cursor in the settings should fix it.
Levels very occasionally bug out, but work fine on restarting level and/or relaunching game. Some in-game achievements don't pop until you play another level. I don't think either of these is a Wine-specific problem.
Very occasionally, level goals aren't detected as completed and level must be restarted. Game freezes on exiting and must be force quit.
Install Media Foundation workaround: https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install Laggy on higher graphics settings, but otherwise runs fine.
Some backgrounds don't show up (appear black). There's probably a workaround but I didn't do extensive testing. Only played a few minutes; not sure if other assets are affected or if it would cause crashes later in the game.
Quitting, overwriting an existing save, and closing the glossary forces the Ubuntu user to log out. However, runs perfectly off Steam in vanilla Wine except for fullscreen mode (tested v3.0 64-bit).
Occasionally resource graphics will disappear, but are still clickable and able to be gathered.
Occasionally throws GetThreadContext failed errors, must be force quit & restarted.

Sound becomes crackly after playing for a while; fixes on restarting the game.
Would not launch until I manually set "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool" to Proton 15.13-2.
Installed the following through winetricks as suggested: $ WINEPREFIX=~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/277650/pfx/ winetricks corefonts d3dx9 tahoma ** Font still looks a bit wonky, but game is playable. Do not turn on graphic font in the pre-launch options or no text will appear.
Steam achievements don't work. No issues with actually running the game.
Can be run natively in Linux if you set Properties->Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool->Steam Linux Runtime. (Did not test if achievements still work with this method.)
Install Steam through Lutris https://lutris.net/games/steam/ Under Configure->Game Options, add the argument steam://rungameid/1735980
Cannot be played using Proton directly because the DRM does not detect the running Linux Steam client.
Game reverts to windowed mode on restart. Seems to be an issue with the game itself and not Proton.
This is the only Tyranobuilder game I've found that runs smoothly in Wine without tweaks, so that's pretty cool.
Minor graphical glitches when exiting the options menu, no problems during gameplay.
Occasionally crashes, but I had the same issue on Windows so it doesn't seem to be a specific problem with SteamPlay.
After a few hours of play time, started to freeze occasionally during loading screens & needed to be force quit. Save often. Otherwise runs smoothly with both mouse/keyboard and controller.
Worked fine until game-breaking bug occurred. Haven't replayed to check if it happens every time.

Fullscreen mode in wrong aspect ratio. Switching to windowed mode and back would not return to fullscreen properly at all. Works fine in windowed mode.
Unplayably laggy unless you set launch options to PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command%
Files include Linux binaries, but it's not playable natively through Steam. Works great in SteamPlay.

Panel and launcher are visible in fullscreen mode. Windowed mode works perfectly.
Over 200 hours in game & only just started having problems with mouse input with the latest Proton update. Switched back to 6.3-5 and it worked fine again.
Launches and music plays, but only shows a black screen.
Includes a browser version, which is playable on Linux with this patch: https://www.dropbox.com/s/qu6h9bd9hifz36w/pa-patch.zip
Extract all image files to Pleasure Airlines/resources/Graphics/Pictures. (This fixes menus that don't display properly due to Linux's case sensitivity.)
In Firefox, go to about:config and set the option security.fileuri.strict_origin_policy to false. (This allows Firefox to load resources from the game's local folder.)
Open Pleasure Airlines/index.html in Firefox.
Buggy in windowed mode (wrong resolution, cursor in wrong place). Works fine in fullscreen.
Occasionally freezes on loading screens & must be force quit.
Steam overlay screenshot function is buggy (sometimes doesn't capture entire window). No issues with actual game function.
Mouse cursor behaves a bit weirdly in the overlay, but the game itself works perfectly.
DRM does not detect Steam client as running and so game will not launch. Workaround: overwrite these files in the install folder: https://www.dropbox.com/s/b9br3l9ipzy5z92/royal-legends-patch.zip
One minigame appeared bugged and had to be skipped. Non-game-breaking bug towards the end of the bonus game where access to optional bonus items was cut off. Not sure if Wine-specific.
Game sometimes needed to be force quit.

Occasionally crashes for no obvious reason.
Move or rename boot.bat
Rename launcher.exe to boot.bat
Under Properties->Set Launch Options, put EN
Or if playing the game in a language other than English, open the original boot.bat file in a text editor, check the language code after start launcher.exe, and put that in the launch options.
Fullscreen just gives a large windowed view with minor graphical glitches.
Opening logos show, then game freezes on a black screen.
With Proton 4.2-9, the game starts correctly, but is unplayably laggy.
Install the for_older_gpus beta.

Completed game with no issues. Controller support works (tested with Logitech Gamepad F310).
Minor graphical glitches on main menu & boss fights, but doesn't affect gameplay. Everything else seems to run perfectly.
No quit option on the menu; cannot be exited from fullscreen mode except by force quitting. Not a SteamPlay-only error https://steamcommunity.com/app/359510/discussions/0/1697221160899453772/

Audio settings are sometimes reset when starting new levels. Opening and closing the options menu should fix them.
Unplayably laggy. However, runs perfectly off Steam in vanilla Wine (tested v3.0 64-bit).
Works great with Media Foundation workaround: https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install WINEPREFIX="/path/to/steam/steamapps/compatdata/338390/pfx" /path/to/mf-install-master/install-mf.sh Tested with mouse & keyboard and disabled Steam overlay; not sure if it makes a difference.
Install Media Foundation workaround: https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install Minor issues with textures flickering (specifically some helmets & Scum's head) but otherwise runs smoothly. Tested with mouse & keyboard.
Tested with patch. Works great except for Steam overlay, but that didn't work for me in Windows either, so it doesn't seem to be a Proton-specific issue.
Cannot be launched through Steam Play because the DRM does not recognize that Steam is running.
Disabling the Steam overlay should fix the graphical glitches.
Runs fine, but the engine has font compatibility issues so the line breaks don't line up properly. YMMV on whether that's tolerable or is too frustrating to read.
Tends to crash after cutscenes. Got past crash points fine after relaunch, no save data lost.
Cannot be launched through Steam Play because the DRM does not recognize that Steam is running.
Completed 999 & played 10+ hours in VLR with no issues. Works great with both controller & mouse/keyboard.
Install quartz
Freezes on black screen at credits after true end. Probably not Proton-specific as I also had issues in Windows 7. Workaround: copy this save file https://www.dropbox.com/s/3id3so9gxzptugb/save40 to compatdata/1479500/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/LocalLow/PHOSEPO_INC/湛藍牢籠/Utage/Save_RailOfMobius to load a post-credits, pre-epilogue save.
