Game installs and runs under Proton-6.0-GE-1
Entering a match doesn't work, it boots you out a few seconds after entering. Probably anti-cheat triggering.
Game runs as good as it does under Windows, with perhaps slightly better load times. Using stock Proton 5.13-2
The game installed and played as expected. No real issues.
Very minor vertical tearing
Game will not start or run.
Game wouldn't start or run under any version of Proton I tried, nor with the Protontricks fixes mentioned in this thread.
Game runs and plays fine.
Sometimes the launcher will crash if you put in the wrong info by accident. Otherwise game runs and plays fine.
Over all, game plays great outside the frame rate being a little low.
This is at the time of this review still an early access game that's been available for maybe a week. That in mind it plays very well. Frame rates I got while doing nothing to the game at all were in the mid to high 20's, but this game doesn't seem to mind the frame rate being a little low. I'd say over all it's still a pretty good experience playing on here. Though if you must have 60fps or better, it's a deal breaker.
5.21-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
GloriousEggroll's custom Proton version 5.21-GE-1
Installing mfc140u.dll into the right directory as explained here, (https://steamcommunity.com/app/1061910) will enable the game to play with no other actions.
The game isn't out yet, these instructions are specifically for the demo that was just released. I do not have a copy of the full game to test it on.
GE-Proton9.20 gets it to start, but you can't play.
I tried several of the fixes here, Forcing DXVK, Forcing DX12, various versions of Proton and Proton GE, The only thing that got the game to work was running a newer version of GE-Proton, I was using GE-Proton9-20. But that just let me start the game. When I tried to play, it would still just go to a black screen.
Game ran unplayably slow on Wayland until switching to Proton 7.0-6, but was fine on X11 out of the box
Wayland seems to be a wild card right now, working fine for some, but not for everyone. I found specifically using KDE Plasma / Wayland I had to change my Proton settings to version 7.0-6, but doing that the game runs full speed and I can set the grpahics options to whatever I wanted. Same setup with X11 instead, it worked on Experimental right out of the box.
I played this single player on my Steam Deck for about an hour and didn't have any issues with it at all. Just installed it and it worked.
Setting the game to low settings and 1280X720 gave a consistant frame rate of about 30 FPS, the game performed reasonably wel and didn't need any more tinkering than that in my case.
Just install and go, same as you would any native Linux game.
Worked perfectly, no issues at all.
On my Ryzen 7 system with a 2060, the game runs flawlessly with all settings on Ultra, No tinkering or messing about required.
Just installed it and it worked, only tinkering involved was installing Proton 5.9 from GloriousEggroll
Proton-5.9-GE-5-ST GloriousEggroll
Latest version of Proton from GloriousEggroll
Hopped in and played for a little bit, everything performed as expected and looked as expected.
Proton 6.0-GE-1 by Gloriouseggroll
Just tell Steam to install it with Proton Experimental (as of 7/5/22) and it works just fine. No other actions needed.
Temporary launcher workaround
The game will play sometimes for up to about 20 minutes, but then inevitably crashes.
I was able to host a lobby, but the game crashed out so often that I couldn't complete a single mission. This happened within a couple minutes if I was not host.
Everything I've tested about the game works fine, except that the game crashes out after either a few minutes (multiplayer when not hosting) or sometimes up to about 20 minutes (single player) Rendering the game ultimately unplayable.
