Running with Proton 8.0-4, the game now launches and plays without any issues.

On launch, at the top left of the screen, there is a "JamesTownPlus Error Reports" notification, which goes away in a few seconds. It appears meaningless as despite testing I can't find any bugs from it.
Without following Amador's instructions (launch options + proton experimental), the game refused to launch. With the instructions, it runs almost flawlessly. Only issue is that error notification at the start.
Note: Amador uses Proton Experimental. I use Proton 8.0-3. Both work flawlessly in my testing.

If you have an AMD GPU (including Steam Deck), you need to put force_compat_profile=true %command% in Launch Options.
Runs out of the box, no tinkering needed. Seems to only work with nvidia cards.
Tried recommended Proton, Experimental, and GE. Still seems to crash at startup, unfortunately.

The game crashes when attempting to start the game
the screen goes black for a few seconds the first time loading the game i can hear the background music for a short while, then the screen goes back to normal and the send crash thing appears.
Crash at start and offer to send a report to dev.
Used to work with Nvidia GTX970. Now crash with AMD RX 5700 XT.
Doesn't start
Crashes immediately before opening a window. Offers to send a minidump to developers.
