FPS Cap
At the very bottom of Game.ini
located in steamapps/common/ARK/ShooterGame/Saved/Config/WindowsNoEditor/ I added:
[/script/engine.renderersettings]
t.maxfps=150
I've capped the fps so as to go easy on my power supply and graphics card, as in the main menu I was getting 1000+ fps.
I hosted a non-dedicated session. It still very much hogs resources.
It might run better than on Windows tbh. I cannot tell though as I haven't had a Windows partition for years.
Works flawlessly. Last I encountered any problems was back when Proton 4 was released.
Multiplayer works like you would expect.
Hit play and game on.
Game freezes if second monitor is turned on while in-game.
-noeac -broadcaster -unlockfps -setfps 144 -framefix
Some sessions had more latency than others.
Don't play against those diamonds on Linux man.
There's also input lag and ghosting on Windows, just not as bad.
Excellent. Just pray that your friends use the same NAT type.
Different NAT types make it difficult playing with friends.
--launcher-skip -skipStartScreen
It's gotten a lot better.
I should be able to get 90-100 fps on medium settings. However, I barely reach 70 fps with the lowest settings.
Crashes during intro. And got rate limited by Denuvo Anti-Tamper...
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%
Very bad experience trying to get Dead Space to work on Linux. I'm trying Proton Hotfix next up.
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11 DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command%
Frequently got flashbanged.
Though my graphics card is ancient by this point, the game ran at merely 32 fps at most.
Sometimes locks up to the point where you hold your breath, hoping it doesn't crash.
I cannot in good faith recommend playing this game on Linux. It is simply too glitchy and laggy.
Freezes for a couple of seconds sometimes when loading other areas. Nothing significant. From what I've heard it does that too on Windows.
The freezing happened 2 times in a 5-hour session. It's really no big deal. The game runs buttersmooth on my new graphics card on highest settings. Runs at about 115-144 fps (v-sync on).
--doorstop-enable true --doorstop-target "Z:/home/<USER>/.config/r2modmanPlus-local/LethalCompany/profiles/Default/BepInEx/core/BepInEx.Preloader.dll" --r2profile "Default"
Not linux specific, just not optimized that well. Game runs at ~110fps.
Launch flag is to enable mods through r2modman
.
Great experience.
Previously playing with your friends was from time to time just not gonna happen. Seems to work just fine nowadays.
Works great. Minor multiplayer annoyances.
Barely noticable floaty grass in mountainous areas. Don't know if that's the case on Windows too.
Depending on what you're doing in-game, sometimes it's like server tickrate drops.
Quite enjoyable.
Perfectly playable. Only noticeable bug is alt-tabbing.
The game crashes or goes black when alt-tabbing. Tested proton versions:
- Experimental
- 6.3-6
If you were to alt-tab it does not save before crashing.
It runs at ~60 fps with low settings on my laptop. (I get ~140 on my desktop with ultra settings)
Initially the game would crash during world generation/loading when running natively. However, switching to "Play Valheim using OpenGL" fixed that issue. The caviat being performance was terrible in comparison.
I found that "Play Valheim using Vulkan" when launching through Proton is the most performant, by far.
