It just works. It's just their servers are shit; play off-peak hours to avoid heavy server traffic
Keyboard+Mouse control does not work
Mapped L3 and R3 to the backgrips
In AC3 Liberation, the are frame drops when using the map during the early game.
Both AC3 and Liberation crashed randomly.
Uplay does not appear at all. I wish I could force it to do so, so at least I can login and forget about it and play
Yes, it just works. The controller works in USB (gotta try more bluetooth mode)
The screen goes white briefly when diving underwater
Im using xbox one wireless controller. The controller seems to be stuck vibrating and not receiving any inputs when in wireless mode. I plugged in the controller using USB and it now works just like how I play it on windows.
A few frame drops (around 40fps from 70). I am experiencing this on windows, too, because of denuvo. Now, i think the game is caching assets or something....
Just remember to install the game to an ext4-formatted drive and run using proton 4.11. Disable Uplay overlay and its social features.
Started my first Proton review with no DLC progress. Now completed all DLC, and all the 183 quests, no problem with quality!
Proton-5.2-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/releases/tag/5.2-GE-2
I just switched from vanilla Proton to GloriousEggroll version since the update from 2020-Mar-12 caused my UPlay to not work with Steam, and make the game literally unplayable. After the switch, it is working great again after switching to Proton-5.2-GE-2.
Proton-5.4-GE-1 just released a few hours ago, might do better.
Great experience overall! Still in EA, hard to tell if Proton or BG3 bugs. Most graphics issues appear when in dialog. Roll 13 to avoid bugs
- Broken lighting/shadows. Parts of characters appear white or black depending whether the light or shadow borked.
- Sometimes, godrays appears as a white blob in my screen.
- Doors, poison clouds, destructible objects, etc... still remains in the screen even if is removed
- Example: regular house doors appear closed but I can walk through it because it is actually opened.
Game treats me like being inside a dialog when I am not, I am already running around the open world. This prevents me from saving or quick-saving. This seems to be a BG3 issue, not Proton's
Steady 60-70 FPS in the open world/combat no matter how long I was playing. Dialog plays around 30 FPS and drops to around 6-20 FPS when playing the game for more than 1 hour.
Vulkan sometimes doesn't want to play with me. Usually happens when playing the game for more than 2 hours.
I'm playing exclusively using Vulkan. Make sure to click 'Yes' on the small dialog that appears when you run BG3 to play using Vulkan. Clicking 'No' will use Dx11.
A huge improvement from my review a year ago! Not perfect, there are negligle graphic glitches, but meh...
Sometimes dialog/commentary in the open world disappears. Might be BG3's problem; not Proton's
Minor clothing clippings, beards behaving wonky in cinematics/dialogs. Tiefling tails being stretched and fixing itself in the open world.
Exagerrated whitening/blackening of reflection/shadow from my review last year does not appear anymore!
Great experience overall!
--skip-launcher
Some audio disappears when after reload
Sometimes, a character's upper body and shoes disappears, turning him to a walking pair of pants. Not sure which triggered it.
Just works.
Just works after turning Resizable BAR from the BIOS
--skip-launcher
Just works.
Does not work well with multi-monitor setup. To play at the desired monitor, you need to set that monitor as your primary. TBF, this game has no native monitor selector. Windows users has a work around for this but it does not work in my setup (Pop!_OS 20.04, NVidia, GTK 3, X11)
Texts are tiny
Joystick/touchpad are too sensitive by default
This is a small tour for AC:O. The tour guide's voice-over is perfect and does not have any playback / sync / artifact issues.
Not working. Maybe someone else made it work?
Tried running with default proton and glorious eggroll builds.
Use protontricks to stop crashing protontricks 985810 mfc42 mfc140 vcrun6 dotnet40
Sometimes, the game will just stop from responding with the controller inputs.
I cant seem to make cjkfonts fix the missing fonts
I'm using a GE proton fork since the game is getting stuck in black screen when entering some cutscenes or changing graphic settings (was using default proton 6.3-6)
Capped FPS to 45
In the prolouge, the dialog does not mix well with the rain. The audio produced by the dialog and rain seems to be "taking turns" to use the speakers.
Not sure if Proton or SteamDeck problem: The load game screen is slow to load. Maybe I have too much savefiles?
There is a license verification error when running with defaul proton. Switch to experimental or hotfix
Limit FPS
When starting the game, inside the spawn, heroes and skill UI are missing. Sometimes the hero is rendered in the screen, but the HUD is not.
Waiting resolves the issue.
VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_2 VKD3D_SHADER_MODEL=6_6 %command%
Initially, the mouse clicks does not register in the homepage. Tinkered with the game's fullscreen settings to resolve the issue.
FPS drops when the battle is too intense. I am getting around 15-40 FPS in a game.
I am getting error message that my system does not support DX12; add launch option: VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_2 VKD3D_SHADER_MODEL=6_6 %command%.
I used kisak-mesa PPA to upgrade AMD driver. Not sure if needed.
Shader compiling on startup is slow AF.
Long loading times. The matchmaking has been completed but the game is still not loading. There are multiple loading screens. This is probably not a Proton problem, but with the servers itself.
It is still in Early Access. Expect unstability.
The textures and framerates are excellent! Just experienced minor hiccups on FMV or whatever that's called in the intro.
Intro movie will not play, and be stuck in after the gas station scene if mf-install is not installed
When taken down by a zombie in a tight room, the screen seems to be filled with triangles from the character textures
Configure mf-install https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-installcab
Sometimes, sound is stuck in TTD mode even if outside TTD. Happened only once.
Game freezes and/or returns to primary display from secondary display when changing location (e.g. entering/exiting spaceship, towns, etc...)
This can be remedied by opening workspace view in gnome (or pressing the Super key)
El Presidente welcomes you to Linux
When in full screen, the hitboxes for the UI are moved upward; this makes clicking smaller buttons difficult. Need to alt-tab away and back to the game to remedy this.
There are framedrops. Limit frames to 30fps and turn on vsync
Not using Esync and Fsync command line args and limiting frame rate to 30 with vsync made experience better
Launch Options: PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=30 %command%
Sometimes, there are small, thin, white vertical lines between the letters. This is present in the menus. But not in the subtitles.
The game just works! Except the game in the game (arcade audio does not work at all)
Audio in arcade games are missing
Alt+Tab during fullscreen sometimes crashes the game. Make sure to sure to set to Borderless Fullscreen to avoid this issue
Never change your Proton version in the middle of a playthrough. Doing so will break the save feature and corrupt your items. Avoid this problem by forcing Steam to use specific version of Proton.
The game just works. No major borkage.
There are times where the street's texture looks like white/gray, diagonal, straight lines instead of the usual asphalt/cement texture.
Never change your Proton version in the middle of a playthrough. Doing so will break the save feature (though, autosaves still work). Avoid this problem by forcing Steam to use specific version of Proton.
In karaoke minigame, the lyrics are shown as tiny words at the upper-left corner of the screen instead of shown as large text and in-sync with the rhythm game sliding thinggy at the center of the screen.
