Linux is now officially unsupported
Respawn Entertainment has officially stated that they removing support for Linux and the Steam Deck on Twitter / X. The anti cheat will not let you play now, giving an error.
Runs like native (Yes, I know there is a native Linux version)
Haven't tested the native Linux version because I'm not sure if it's still being updated like the Windows version and AMS 2 is a multiplayer experience for me firstly, but there are zero problems with running the Windows version under Proton Experimental. Buttery smooth and no graphical glitches or bugs introduced by Proton.
Runs with no issues
Pretty much perfect. Used Proton Experimental and no problems whatsoever.
Works, but not perfect
Does not save Fullscreen setting. Have to reapply every launch. Works like borderless window instead of true fullscreen.
Slight hit to performance compared to Windows
Runs a bit better on Windows, but it's still good on Linux. Easy to get high fps on modern hardware though. Inviting friends and joining has to be done via Xbox App on a phone as Xbox Game Bar isn't on Linux. Attempting to join clubs in game isn't supported as that also requires Xbox App or Game Bar which is only present on Windows. Only crashed once for me during a long play session.
HELLDIVERS II runs great on Linux, no performance issues noted on my end. WIsh it had DLSS as it seems to be a bit taxing on hardware, but it is a great title overall.
No bugs, but runs better on Windows.
Runs better on Windows
No bugs on my end using Proton Experimental, but performance on Linux is not as good as Windows. No problems in menus and stuff, but using the same graphical settings, the framerate is a bit lower in Linux than on Windows. It is a Microsoft product after all. Still completely playable, but it's best to play this one on Windows if you need to squeeze all the performance out of your hardware.
Progress has been made, but not playable yet.
With Proton Experimental, you can now get past the splashscreen now, but attempting to load into any racetrack will crash the game at around 50% loading. You can change settings, and browse all the cars and stuff in the main menus, but can't really race.
Works very well
Runs like native, doesn't crash like on Windows when you Alt-Tab which is great. Multiplayer has been long dead, so use a service like Hamachi or ZeroTier to play with friends.
