Selected game beta "legacy1.19.1_unity_ver2019.4.28f1". Won't start otherwise. Runs fine afterwards.
No tinkering needed to just play. For headtracking with opentrack I followed the steps in this steam discussion and repeated the same for left/right and up/down motion.
Only affects multi monitor setup: Fullscreen tries to use full desktop instead of single monitor
Just install, start and play, no issues. Recognized my Logitech G27 wheel with no issues and even force feedback was working fine. After some configuration, even headtracking with opentrack virtual joystick works just fine.
Logitech G27 wheel only works on older proton version
No issues when you're playing with mouse/keyboard or controller. Some wheels seem to work only on specific proton versions.
I'm using headtracking with opentrack and wine output, it only works if I start tracking once the game has fully loaded/joined. If tracking is started before, loading hangs before 100%.
I haven't thoroughly tested, but it seems like linux cannot host games for windows users.
With the default version, controllers vibrate when grabbing anything, "oldindexbuild" beta has mismapped and wonky controls. Played on the Valve Index.
Demo runs fine, a bit low on fps
Played the steam next fest demo. Runs fine right out of the box. Played on all high settings with 45-65 fps
Works out of the box
Performance is around 60-80 fps with dips to 45, but it's early access and from what I gathered, there are performance updates planned.
Friend on Windows was able to join my Linux hosted game via ingame server browser with no issues.
Game displays on monitor instead of Valve Index

After trying all the different launch commands and finding the only Proton version it didn't crash with a fatal error, the game did not display anything on the VR headset, only the window on my monitor
Starts on monitor instead of Valve Index
Works like a charm
Continued a steam cloud savegame from windows, no issues at all. Modmanager works identically and had no issues continuing where I left off.
For the Valve Index mic to work need to set the pulse audio default sample rate (see https://github.com/ValveSoftware/SteamVR-for-Linux/issues/215#issuecomment-526791835). Otherwise no tweaks needed
FPS slightly lower when other models/complex scenery is in view.
