The settings can be complicated to operate.
Using the touchscreen can get really unreliable once you get in the game.
I tried Proton Experimental and GE-Proton8-25.
I only managed to open the launcher. But only once managed to start the game but only a black screen.
Also I don't even need/want BattlEye support as I have a private dedicated server without it.
First time the game is launched, a setting window appears that has to be operated with the touchscreen or external mouse/keyboard or temporary controller layout.
The game is not able to close itself.
The game defaults with mouse and keyboard controls. The controller needs to be manually selected from keyboard input.
Set rendering scale to 100% or lower (game defaults to 200%)
Proton Experimental fixes FMV audio being absent
Text can overlap on dialogue options.
The game lags a lot and take long time to load areas or the save/load screen.
The game first started in 2X set on SCREEN SIZE which made only a quarter of the game visible. I manage to sneak into the GRAPHICS in the OPTIONS menu and set it to 1X and at that point there was no more issue.
Sometimes the game would experience significant lag on some certain areas/events. Rebooting the game seem to help a bit.
Teardown is still an Early Access game in development but it is in a mature state. The Steam Input support is really good but keep in mind some old/outdated modded weapons might still expect keyboard/mouse inputs and will not work with the default configuration.
Might need to use the touch screen or a mouse to navigate the launcher then closing the launcher once the game is opened
If you wanna play handheld/controller only I would highly recommend to force the game in gamepad mode in the game settings then it's pretty much flawless from there
Tower Unite is a game that will always be close to 100% GPU usage but you can expect to be mostly close to 60 fps if you take time to tweak the graphical settings.
Do not forget that Tower Unite is still in early access and in heavy development. It has not been optimised for the Steam Deck and still lacks full controller support.
