DXVK_FRAME_RATE=60 %command%
This isn't a super-polished game, and performance isn't the greatest. I therefore did decide to set the max frame rate to 60 via DXVK, as it was seriously hammering my GPU. The game itself has very little graphical options unfortunately.
No audio issues, no broken cutscenes.
WINE_DO_NOT_CREATE_DXGI_DEVICE_MANAGER=1 %command%
Launch arg fixes intro video being yellow and stretched. Probably other videos as well
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%
As others noted - no videos for tutorial and abilities unless you run with 6.3-8 compatibility and still not all of them will work.
For me on chapter 3 part 4 game immediately crashed on load. Run Steam through terminal and I got error message: "eventfd: Too many open files". That's why I run with "PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1" - it solves the issue. If you experience the same crash then launch with given option or rise your system open file limit.
The videos doesn't work with Proton 7.0+ or Proton GE 7.0+. Tried with Proton 7.0-1, Proton-GE 7-8 and Proton-GE 7-10. In all cases the videos were just mess without sound. After switching to Proton 6.3-8 most of the videos are working fine, except few skill and tutorial videos
Using Proton-6.5-GE-2 works perfectly, cutscenes and other short movies for skils work as well.
Game works, but in game videos do not work on default proton. Using Proton-6.5-GE-2 solved all the issues
Proton-6.21-GE-2
A couple lines of dialog didn't play. 99% of the dialog was fine.
Average FPS (per Steam overlay) was 40-55 FPS, with dips to low 30s. Even while idling in the menu. No impact to gameplay, but seemed lower than I would expect. Did not compare against Windows performance.
Proton-6.8-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Proton-GE (https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom)
It also works with vanilla Proton, but the movies can't be played.
Proton-6.8-GE-1
Proton-GE Media Foundation patches are needed for the short videos showcasing new skills and upgrades. Story cutscenes are all done in-game except for a very short one at the end, so it can still be considered playable even with vanilla Proton.
Proton-6.5-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Proton-6.5-GE-2
No cutscenes/tutorial movies with standard Proton. With GloriousEggroll everything works fine.
40-50 fps High 1440p ultrawide, not sure if it supposed to be like this, but it's ok for this type of the game.
Adding SDL_AUDIODRIVER="pulse" %command%
to the Launch Options fixed it.
Cinematics display a black screen. You can skip them with ESC and still get relevant dialog from it.
Fun game. Mechanics are very intresting and enjoyable. Needed to run with glorius eggroll fork of proton to make the game work propperly.
Proton-5.9-GE-3-ST
Keeps crashing at the end of mission 2.
Proton-5.8-GE-2-MF GloriousEggroll
Proton-GE
Game is playable, passed 3 levels, not sure if playable until the end.
All Media Foundation videos work, the game doesn't crash at the end of first level.
Crashes at the end of a mission ( summary screen) before the game saves, it is hard to recommend playing this game using proton.
The game generally runs well but it crashed at the end of the first mission, on the summary screen.
Black screen in cutscenes which cases tutorial unplayable. This workaround helped: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1988953233
You can't play past a certain point in the Tutorial since the screen goes black.
It launches into a black screen but clicking allows you to see the loading and menu screens. After reaching a certain point in the Tutorial mission the screen goes black and I couldn't see what was happening. The game seems to still be working as it reacts to input and I can hear the feedback sounds but it's completely black.
Even with a Ryzen 7 3700X and GTX 1080, at 2560x1440 I was getting under 60 FPS on anything but Low settings.
