The game is playable, but only the sound is missing.
There is no sound present in the game.
Earlier versions of proton, the performance is slow on my end, but in this version, the performance is improved.Works well.
Finally, the game launches without config anything.Sure theres minor graphical issues, particularly in the game over cutscenes. But other than that, its fully playable.
Depending on your hardware, it may suffer from major slowdown, even on the lowest settings.
From the last proton stable version i had my 2 saves. When i used the current proton version, both of my saves are gone.
My hardware constantly stutters ingame, and loading screens take a long time to load.
With the recent proton version i didnt have to config the steam controller to keyboard commands. Now I can play the game like it's native. No config required.
Occasionally, the levels show white lines throughout the textures. Not gamebreaking, but noticeable.
The game runs better with WINED3D on my hardware.
Play the game with WineD3D for the game to play.
In some launches, I got a random chance in my playthrough the mouse's motions may not register in game, not being able to aim in game, but only in the menus.
Game running at all high settings can make some maps run slow.
With consistent connection problems and a small player base. It's best played with friends for the best experience.
Game wouldn't start by default, even with commands.Only black screen and sound.
The game still suffers from black screen at menu. This can be fixed with the latest d9vk release at https://github.com/Joshua-Ashton/d9vk/releases . Within the d9vk folder, type( export WINEPREFIX=~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/16710/pfx ) , then type ( ./setup_dxvk.sh install ). Then enable the ( DXVK_HUD=full %command% )in launch options to make sure the d9vk is installed. The startup images will be messy, but after the start menu starts, the cutscenes and gameplay it works without issue.
With the inclusion of d9vk, enabling PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command% makes the game run perfectly.
The game starts, but always immediately closes shortly after.
After esync disabled to fix the sound loop, I have to configure controls on my steam controller in game to make controller work.Other than that the gameplay runs fine.
The games in the collection works ootb, except megaman 8's cutscenes, which is replaced with a standby screen, but can be skipped.
For a better performance, use WINED3D. Also, for a consistant 60 fps, i put mesa_glthread=true on my amd rx 580. Basically on launch options, put gamemoderun PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 mesa_glthread=true %command%
wmp11 is required for x4 and the other wmv cutscenes to work.
Sometimes, the window might not go into fullscreen, freezing the application. To fix it, go to the directory of the game and select config.ini file and put fullscreen to ON and it works for me after that.
If u played the game on windows and then play it in steam proton on linux, there is a chance your save may be corrupted and must make a new save. The issue is not a problem after making and playing it only on linux.
Have to use wined3d command to get best performance. X1-3 works but x4 refuses to play.
With the wined3d commmand, the performance is improved and with tinkering in the config ini file and type refresh rate to 60.00Hz, the menu is at perfect speed.with the earlier builds of proton, the menu is white and is now fixed on this release. X1-3 work, but x4 refuses to play.
With wined3d command and putting refresh rate to 60.00Hz in the config ini, the menu works, but x5-8 refuse to work.
The game runs better than the windows version, but with a few caveats.
The game seems to crash everytime when it hits 3GB of vram usage. Play the game in medium to low settings to reduce the chance of crashes to happen.
The performance in game occasionally dips(especially in dense enviroments),but other than that, its playable
Just put some launch commands from steam proton on https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/ and disable esync, fsync, and enable d9vk.
The game needs to have esync and fsync disabled and D9VK enabled, then the game audio and gameplay is as playable as the windows version.
With the esync command the sound is fixed. The game is playable but the framerate dips a lot, especially when going fast.
With disable esync command, the audio is fixed and game is somewhat playable, but the framerate drops consistently, especially in dense enviroments.
The game still suffers from performance issues, even when using esync to fix audio problems. However, a lot more better with d9vk.To do this download the current d9vk release https://github.com/Joshua-Ashton/d9vk/releases , then extract the folder and open the terminal within the d9vk folder and do the command(and u must have the game id.) ex) export WINEPREFIX=~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/71340/pfx ,then type ./setup_dxvk.sh install . To make sure its enabled, in the launch command, type DXVK=full %command% (as an example). If the hud appears, then u done it. Still need esync disabled though.
After the release of d9vk in Proton, entering the command PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 makes the game run without problems.Still have to disable esync to fix the audio problems.

These configs will only work for The Ultimate Doom selection.
Game ran without issue, though expect cutscenes to be automatically skipped
The game is playable, but if playing with a mouse, the camera will not move occasionally and cutscenes will not play, only skip.
The only thing that doesnt work is the intro cutscene, instead youll only hear explosions.Other than that the game works fine without config anything.
