plays fine. some cutscenes work, while others just show a test pattern with no audio.
i do not think the cutscenes are completely necesarry to enjoy Bullet Witch, but it is a bit odd that only some of them are working out of the box.
made an .sh file to convert the movie files, run in the movies folder, seems to work fine now:

No sound in videos
With Proton 7.5 and 8 not all videos in the game work, and the sound sometimes lags.To play all videos with sound you need 1) use proton ge 2) rename ssu files to .wmv, convert to .mov, rename new files to .ssu, move them back to the movies folder
Game works now out of the box using default Proton
The cut scene and intro videos are working too, both audio and video (assuming you have not disabled Steams shader pre-caching for whatever reason)
Game is playable now again, but the main story videos are not working with regular Proton
With Proton GE videos play but are missing sound
Cutscenes didn't play, got a black screen (except for UI) with sound when starting a new game.
When a cutscene starts only SMPTE color bars are displayed (no sound), after the initial cutscenes were over I could see something for about 3 seconds before everything on screen (except for the UI) turned black. Don't care enough to tinker around with the game to get it to run properly.
Cut-scene videos do not play, and game is unplayable because screen goes black
Correction to my previous report, I do not recommend this game. Because out of the box cut-scene videos do not work. And the game goes black so only the hud is visible. It is unplayable in current state with default Proton, it can be made fully functional with old mfplat workarounds and Proton versions but it is not worth the hassle.
Game was not playable
Intro videos partially works now, but was not able to get into gameplay as I did with older Proton versions.

Most main cutscenes won't work.
The gameplay runs fine but the cutscenes won't start. Luckily you can skip the cutscenes and continue playing just fine. Probably watch them all on YouTube as you progress if you never played the game before.
Aside from the lack of cut scenes this is a very stable and enjoyable game.
No cutscene can play. (Still happening on 6.2.) You just get black black screen that you can button-mash through. Cut scenes are available on YouTube, though.
The game itself runs fine, just going to have problems with the cutscenes.
Cutscenes don't play
Game is playable with good performance, but cut-scene videos are skipped (WMV3/WMAP format). Also Nintendo Switch Pro controller worked fine.
