If you switch to another application the game will crash
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=TRUE %command%
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=TRUE %command%
worked out of the box after adding the following launch option: "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=TRUE %command%"
works great
Latest Proton Experimental version made a big improvement especially with sound.
Runs ok on FC34, the non-fullscreen is not a deal breaker. Fullscreen works great on FC33 with no tweaks.

Older Proton could not start in full screen at all. Newer and experimental you would drop out of full screen after a mouse click and then upon returning to the window mouse was disabled. Works fine in non-fullscreen.
Mouse click dropped out of window and upon return would not function. Works fine in non-fullscreen.
Ran using Glorious Eggroll Proton Version 6.4. Had to emulate a virtual screen under protontricks -> winecfg to prevent it from crashing.
Proton-6.4-GE-1 (Glorious Eggroll) GloriousEggroll
Going out of the game crashed it. Fixed it by emulating a virtual Screen (protontricks -> winecfg). Could be becaus of Wayland
Going out of the game crashed it. Could be solved using protontricks -> winecfg -> emulate custom screen. Could be because of Wayland.
Steam launch window showing up saying "Starting Catan Universe". Nothing else happens.
I've spend many hours playing this game
After 15 hours of play, I've experienced only two crashes. However, they were rather severe, causing my entire system to lockup, and required a hard reboot. I'm unsure what caused these crashes.
Went very well out of the box.
I played only single user game because in the "free"version you have to wait one dayto be allowed playing another game.
Not launching for Proton 5.13-2; 5.0-10 and 4.11.13
Only worked well with Proton 5.0 and not with 5.13

Does not work when you use the Flatpak version of Steam! Using both 5.0-5, 4.11-13, and 4.2-9 I never get beyond the initial splash icon when running the Flathub version of Steam. No such issues when running the system-version of Steam.
Worksout of the box.
Game is starting an showing an process bar in an smal windows. At ~75% the windows closes and the steam button switch back to "play".
Game ran out of the box - but was nearly unplayable on my system until using the PROTON_NO_D3D11=1 %command% switch. Using the reduced graphics settings as suggested before was clearly not enough here. After using the switch the game works well for me.
Runs fine out of the box.
On Fedora 29, game won't start. Says running (in Steam), but nothing ever shows up. Catan is listed (3 times) in task manager, but game is not actually launching.
Default settings result in really low FPS - change resolution to any you like, Quality to Fastest and turn off Antialiasing, and game will have 60+ FPS.
