Alt-Tabbing can cause all windows to freeze and the OS becomes unresponsive for ~10-20 seconds.
Steam Input: Seemed to cause crashes when enabled. Would recommend to turn Steam Input off for this game and using an Xbox Controller or testing functionality of other controllers with AntiMicroX or other tools.
PS4 & PS5 Controllers: Game detects them without Steam Input, however, the game misreads the left stick's inputs and inverses them.
Xbox One & Series X|S Controllers: Game detects them without Steam Input. Functioning with no noticible issues.
Had to drop graphics preset to low to get the game to be stable enough. It would crash at loading screens otherwise.
Game crashes immediately when clicking on the "Settings" option in the menu while Steam Input is enabled.
Game may crash at loading screens if a higher graphical preset is applied.

Have to use low settings to avoid crashes
Using any higher graphical settings make the game crash in game and when loading some operations. I did not have a single crash after switching to low graphics, and honestly I think it even looks better. The only thing higher settings seem to do is add a lot of blur

Seems mostly playable, and I gather it suffers from similar surprising sluggishness issues on Windows.
Strange grey rectangles, I think it's a misrendering of smoke particles. One place where it says something like "missingfont3" instead of 3 in a special font, I guess.
Keyboard input would 'stick' and lag for several seconds - turning off key-repeat in Gnome settings fixed this.
Feels like 20-30fps - I would expect better from a 3060 on a game of this age.
It seems like the amount of artifacts gradually increases and then at some point the whole game freezes and requires a hard reboot to exit. Can play for about 20-30 minutes 'safely'.

There's crackling and missing sounds just like in Windows
Inputs don't respond properly and feel janky and delayed
Game is sluggish, freezes all the time for a few seconds, and inputs randomly stop responding
The game constantly freezes for a few seconds
My opinion: this is mostly Volition's fault since most of their games have always been having such technical issues on Windows as well

game felt sluggish responding to input, and the game seemed to suffer cache loading issues
sony dualshock 4 controller (on usb) causes game to crash to desktop instantly.
at 1080p, game should play better then it does. certainly feels juddery.
(crash when controller connected and menu used)
game seemed to have input lag. not overly familiar with it, so maybe i just forgot after years...
between the input "sludge" and the dramatic FPS drops when under heavy rotation. there is clearly performance issues still occuring. that said, it's running a LOT better then the 5fps it managed a few years ago

Game crashes right before the main menu. Tried 8-3, Proton Experimental, and GE 8-3.
Game is not working yet.

C'est leeeeent. Utilise tout mon GPU pour ~30 fps. Jouable cependant.

gamemoderun mangohud RADV_PERFTEST='gpl' %command%
Performance lower than expected for my current hardware. Keep in mind i have not tested if i have the same performance on windows, so could be a game problem.
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 gamescope %command%
Stuttering and visual lags
~1 crash per hour
Agents of Mayhem is perfectly playable on Deck using the most recent GE Proton, but there are still additional steps to get things running properly. Two options, both compromised in some way.
Option A)
Run in gamemode, but make sure you use / map a control scheme tied to Mouse and Keyboard as controllers crash the game either before the Ark (hub area) loads, or as soon as you try to press a button in game. Game is then playable, but can be awkward as certain button inputs never feel quite right mapped in this way.
Option B)
Run in desktop mode. Under Settings > Controller > General Controller Settings tick ONLY 'Guide Button Focuses Steam' and 'Generic Gamepad Config Support'. Then under Game > Properties > Controller choose 'Use default settings'. Under Game > Properties > General, make sure 'Enable the Steam Overlay' is NOT ticked.
These settings will allow you to play the game without issue, using the default Volition controller settings. This is a much more enjoyable way to play the game than via mapped K+M controls, but means you miss out on being able to suspend play, cap frame rate / screen refresh, set TDP options, etc.

Playstation 5 controller DID not work even with trying different controller profiles.
It was slow when going to the main menu of the new Big Picture mode.
I used to only get 5 FPS in this game - now I get a full 60.
Doesn't open on cleaner boot, but a user suggests VS Redist.
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 gamemoderun %command%
I'm on a bit of a clean Kubuntu Linux boot right now, but the game just outright doesn't run despite switching to different Proton versions. It's highly possible the user needs to install "Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 redistributable" in their Wine/Proton instance before being able to play the game.
But as it stands without having previously done this or without Winetricks, etc.? The game is unrunnable.

almost insta-crashed
so i tried glorious eggroll, i tried proton experimental, 7.0-4, 6.3-8... i could not find any config files to try deleting, so it's not even making it that far. making the game actually worse then when i last tried a while ago. note i'm dual screen at different resolutions and refresh rates, so that could be it.
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 gamemoderun %command%
Tried with both default Proton and ProtonGE and also various launch options such as PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 but sadly nothing helped.
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 gamemoderun %command%
For nVidia cards it will only launch with the NVAPI command line. It will crash if you have any input device other than your keyboard and mouse. It will crash if your Graphic settings are not on "Low" in some specific point of few story missions (the very first, for example).
To be fair, I am having a great experience: the Low setting is still impressively good, but I do miss using the Steam Controller.
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 gamemoderun %command%
Some stutter and slowdowns
This game hates NVIDIA cards, and you might get some crashes if you set some settings to use NVIDIA tech
Doesn't work on NVIDIA cards without the
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1
Game freezes as soon as it loads on the first mission because of some graphic setting. Just leave it a "low" for the first mission then go ham
Needs Proton GE for performance, and a controller layout limited to only keyboard and mouse input.
Game does not recognize any gamepad input, and may also crash if a controller layout with gamepad inputs is selected.
Need to switch to Proton GE or you'll only get 5-6 fps.
With the default Proton videos play and you can get to the main menu, but performance is very poor (5-6 fps). The game would crash with Proton Experimental. Proton GE seems to improve performance to an acceptable level (~60 fps on medium) but I have only verified that in the starting area.
The game will not recognise any gamepad inputs, so the default official controller layout is useless and must be changed to one based on Keyboard (WASD) and Mouse. The community layout by FuneralParlor_Eye works.
The game may also crash when navigating menus or on game load when a layout that includes gamepad inputs is selected, so make sure you're using one which only includes keyboard and mouse inputs.
Click on start, seems to be doing something, no screen end then stops.
I periodically try some of the games that haven't worked previously, and found that Agents of Mayhem appears to work with movements and shooting. I will test this further to see if there are any limitations.
The game has micro stutterings. Nothing major, though.
It still isn't an out-of-the-box experience, but it is way better than before.
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 %command%
4 FPS at most on a good day no matter the settings, completely unplayable. Cutscene have no problems however.
Needed to add a command line option to make the game launch on NVIDIA GPU.

Runs out of the box, but not playable due to only ~4 FPS in game and some menus. Tried Proton 7.0-1 and Proton GE 7.2
4 FPS in game and some menus
Did not start at all.
Normal performance in menus, 2 fps in-game
I knew there were fps issues with AoM. Tried a number of things: no Fsync, no Esync, Force Large Address Aware, WineD3d (instant crash), over-clocking, underclocking. Nothing. Same 2 fps.
Here's the thing, though: Mangohud worked, so I got to observe system usage. In menus, the cpu and gpu usage was normal; cpu used about 6 threads, loaded at ~15-30%, gpu clocked up to its max at 10% utilization. Exiting the menu and returning to the game, cpu usage plummeted to a single thread at 100% with the rest at 0-1%, and the gpu clocked down from 2060mhz to 800mhz. This isn't how the game performs in Windows, so this isn't normal behavior. Something's off in the resource allocation / the way Proton answers the program's request for system resources.

Running very slow, but OOTB
7-8 FPS on Radeon HD7870
Did not even start with standard proton (5.13.1)

5.9-GE-2-MF GloriousEggroll
Proton 5.9-GE-2-MF
5 fps. Any combination of settings. Unplayable.

This game can run with GloriousEggroll Proton-5.8-GE-2-MF with the Windows Media Foundation fixes- having the game start is big progress!
The slow performance had a impact on the audio.
The game was running at 5 FPS and should be running much faster.
There's a quick flash from the game launching but immediately closes.
Completely unplayable.
Also, menus don't show up.
Impossibly slow. Completely unplayable.
Game still doesn't start when player has nVidia graphics.

It works out of the box, but it has poor performance with the all graphics presets. Controller works fine. The audio some times late.

Tried launch options: D9VK, no esync, wined3d. Game says preparing to launch, running, syncing all in space of a second.
Still no improvement

games starts without any sign of issue, then for about 2-3 seconds it runs at reasonible fps (60?).... then the menu finishes loading and the whole thing slows to a crawl. video clips run fine. I've tried going in game, the same lag is present. interestingly, PAUSING the game causes the pause menu animation to play, but once done... the menu runs at full speed. adjusting rendering options in the menu removes the pruple filter, and adjustments seem to occur fluidly in realtime. my only guess is HDR... I had to convert the amd 2019 computex video due to a HDR color profile, maybe linux just hates HDR rendering? i'm going to try messing with the settings files and such and see if i can figure it out from that angle.

Still doesn't launch in 4.2-5

<5 FPS in the menu making it unplayable
