Antigua harbour town at night with rainfall resulted in some dropped and glitchy audio
One instance of disappearing geometry after playing for several hours, resolved with a relaunch

Settings: Shadows - middle Using xbox360 gamepad option (via touchscreen). I used to apply community gamepad layout to unlock this. Stable 60 fps, runs great
Works well out of the box

crashes randomly
PROTON_HEAP_DELAY_FREE=1 %command%
even with the tinker - not able to play the game
1. switch to Proton 3.7-8 -> perfect experience, 2. rare crashes, but save system is very forgiving, so that's not really a problem.
gamemoderun DXVK_ASYNC=1 PROTON_HEAP_DELAY_FREE=1 %command%
I played only docked with mouse and keyboard, but I think the Deck's controls will work with a bit of configuration.
The game installs, launches and plays great with Proton 7.0-6. 40 to 60 fps with high to low settings. Shadow quality affects fps the most.
40 Hz mode
Horizontal camera turning might appear jittery while moving, but is smooth when standing still. However, this issue does appear in Windows as well.
Only needs mouse for initial setup activating gamepad in controls menu. Shader compile stuttering when entering new areas, but smooth fps quickly after that.
PROTON_HEAP_DELAY_FREE=1 %command%
As others noted game freezes in random short intervals without tinkering
First time I ran it game froze in the first 10 minutes. Then I researched it and discovered that it is known issue. I used command line flag (see above), disabled autosaves and lowered shadows quality to high. No idea what from this list is necessary but I didn't have freezes anymore even on longer (serveral hours) sessions.
This does not run on steam deck

PROTON_HEAP_DELAY_FREE=1
With the default Proton version, it crashed fairly regularly (every 15-30 minutes).
With Proton 7.2 GloriousEggroll-2, I was ableto play for hours. Crashes still happened ocassionally, but it was very bearable, especially when considering the game's save system is fast and allows quicksaving everywhere.

No fullscreen option in game and setting it in config file does not work.
Crashes are random and occur between 20 minutes and 3 hours. They seem to be more frequent with default Proton. It is playable with Glorious Eggroll.
Fullscreen works with KDEs application configuration:
- Press ALT + F3
- Go to More Actions -> Configure Special Application Settings...
- Click Add Property... and select Fullscreen
- Choose Force and activate it with Yes and Apply
Another problem is that the mouse cursor of the game and of the OS are visible at the same time. The game does not hide the OS mouse pointer. This can be fixed with unclutter. Open a terminal while the game is running and execute the following command to hide the mouse pointer:
unclutter --start-hidden --jitter 10000 --timeout 0.1 --ignore-buttons 1,2,3,4,5,6,7

Game crashes on autosave. Disabling autosave can help with freezes.
I recommend switching shadows quality from Ultra to High for a very good performance boost. Also there is an fps lock, you should siable it. Open folder \common\Risen 3\data\ini, then ConfigDefault.xml and edit FPSLimitToRefreshRate="true" to FPSLimitToRefreshRate="false". Save this file and start the game. Disable vsync in game

Unplayable, unless you want to restart the game after 15 minutes of playing
Game crashes every 15 minutes

The game runs very smooth and without problems after minor adjustments.
Fixed after increasing maxchannels to 512 in DefaultConfig.xml
No more crashes after adding PROTON_HEAP_DELAY_FREE=1
to launch options
Sometimes freezes (crashes). Feels native. No pattern for crashes.. 60 fps (vsync on) on my hardware with slight quality adjustments.
If you have RADV/MESA and a newer AMD GPU, then your experiences will likely be constant random freezes.
With MESA/RADV ICD Loader I got graphical glitches, but AMDVLK 64 icd loader was fine.
Sometimes autosave can trigger a freeze-up event.
Crashes with Proton often, and also with Wine unfortunately. Originally I thought Wine was ok, but it eventually goes into freeze up mode also.
Game is prone to constant freezing on my 6800XT setup; I've heard that NVIDIA users and SOME other AMD users didn't get freezing; but you REALLY need to put in time to play the game to know if that is a issue, not just load up for 5mins in the tutorial level!
The game runs solid 6+ hrs under Win10 with only 1 crash/freeze.
The game crashes with proton after about 15minutes but I did not experience the crashes with lutris wine install. The crashing is appears to be related to proton in specific.
VSYNC will cause fps issues, use dxvk 1.9 fps limiter.
Crashes after 15mins on the dot basically, if proton is used.
Use WineGE with Lutris, no issues after 2hrs of play. But if I use steam+proton it crashes after 15mins all the time.
Chrashes about every 10 to 15 Minutes
A few months ago the game worked out of the box with no issues. At the moment though, there is a serious issue with the game constantly crashing.
While the 64-bit version of the game has severe stability issues, the 32-bit version runs great. Instructions:
Crashes / freezes very frequently and randomly to the point of being unplayable. Tried with a number of different Proton versions including GE, different settings etc. but nothing seems to help.
Apart from the frequent crashes the game runs very smooth, so it would be a great experience if it would be stable.
To play this game, player have to be as patient as stone, and save every couple minutes.
Magic effects on weapons flickers.
Some small fps drops on Ultra.
Game crashes or freezes frequently, no proton flag helps. Tested with versions from 3.7-8 up to 5.0-9, 3.16-9 is the most stable one and 5.0-9 is the most unstable, with 3.7-8 game freezes instantly during save load.
Game slows down over time, especially if travelling a lot - seems to be some kind of memory leak.
Can crash within a few minutes or a couple of hours, seems to depend on amount of travelling undertaken. Moving from one island to another will shorten the time between crashes. No Proton flag seemed to help.

This works OK'ish default proton dx9 support but if you want the best performance then try (PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command%), just keep in mind D9VK can be a bit finicky at start because it needs to cache everything (somewhere) and sometimes that cache can get corrupted. With D9VK you will experience initial stutters in new areas due to caching but once that passes it will run great, even works with reshade tools.

Crashes randomly, otherwise perfect performance on best graphic settings.

The game freezes after a while, but I'm not sure what causes it, since it seems very random. Besides that it works perfectly. I can usually play for at least half an hour before the game freezes, but it will freeze.

Always crashes shortly after starting

ocasionally freezes, otherwise works great

Works good.
