Game doesn't run no matter what, tried every Proton version I have, GE, Experimental, etc. and the game starts and returns to Steam menu.
Followed the guide to remove Ubi Connect
Getting rid of Ubi Connect doesn't solve anything either.
Custom Guide
30fps Cap
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3239475230 A guide is available that will Skip Ubisoft Connect Use Proton Experimental, it is Selected by Default
This Guide also contains the best Settings for Immortals Fenyx Rising with two Presets. Performance & Quality I highly recommend Quality as it looks much better, is more consistent and has much better battery.
Immortals Fenyx Rising runs at locked 30fps with the Quality settings along with applying the No Launcher Fix
Finished main game and eastern DLC without issues
Tested the other two DLC and they were fine as well
Some form of VPN required for Ubisoft Connect to work. I just use 1.1.1.1 because it wraps itself in a VPN connection but isn't actually a VPN.
Ubisoft always failes to connect to the internet, completly blocking the game from running.
Despite uplay being used on top of Steam, it runs well.
Only two notes:
- disable Steam Input for the game if you want to use a gamepad
- Uplay keeps running after quitting the game, so you have to close it manually for Steam to recognize that the game has quit.
I use Proton experimental by default on all games, at purchase this game was blocked by the Ubisoft launcher. Now it runs without any issues
When exiting the game - ubisoft launcher has to be manually exited for steam to register the game was closed
Proton Experimental works perfectly fine. On GE the cutscenes sometimes turn to a blackscreen for a sec.
Ubisoft Connect sometimes can't sync saves.
Grass has black artifacts if environment setting is not set to "Very High"
There's a memory leak associated with Ubisoft Connect overlay. You need to launch the game from desktop mode, alt+tab out, and select the icon from the task bar, and disable practically everything.
Takes longer to start because of Ubisoft connect but once I saved my Ubisoft profile it boots straight to the game after a few seconds showing Ubisoft connect logo
Native proton, proton 7.49, 7.50, experimental
Tried different settings presets
Crashes every 15 minutes or so
Hi! I play IFR on my steam deck. The game crashes on steam deck every 15 minutes or so. Tried various graphics settings, tried native proton, 7.49, 7.51, and experimental. Nothing helps. The console shows a black screen and restarts when using proton 7.51. On other versions game freezes, the fan starts working very hard and you could only turn off the console using the physical button. Reddit users say that others are reporting the same issue with Far Cry 5 and AC Origins. Whereas I have had the exact same problem but with Division 2. Please, help.
Slight black artifacts on grass.
Runs and looks pretty great on the Deck. For consistency, use 40Hz/FPS mode. With GE Proton 49, there are no audio/cutscene issues. The slight black outlines on the grass aren't annoying to me at all. On the first start it didn't detect the Steam controller, needed to adjust it on the Steam Input overlay. Exiting the game seems to hang it, but this caused no issues so far.
Installed Ubisoft Connect via bottles. Manually added to steam as non-steam game and set compatibility to GE-Proton7-49. Install Immortals and enjoy.
Changed Gyr activation to right trackpad only, inverted horizontl
Limited to 40fps & 40Hz
Black flicks appear in the grass
Using GE-Proton7-49 I don't seem to be suffering the audio / cutscene issue and it plays very well. Tested the opening cinematic and the constellation puzzle toward the end of the prologue to the golden isle. Holding 40 fps nicely at medium settings with high textures and low shadows.
Still suffering the black flicks in the grass but this is far from game breaking.
Ubi's cloud saves appear to work which means I can transition my gameplay from Desktop to Deck.
I'm running Cryoutilities 2.0 so this may help my performance.
game crashes right after splash screen
The storyline is the best part and half of it is missing.
Multiple dialogs are completely missing. It's not just a sound issue. The characters mouths don't move when they are supposed to talk and even the subtitles follow the same effect. Sometimes the characters lines are repeated in areas they aren't supposed to be. It happens so often, it completely kills the story
Half the storyline is missing
The game plays fine. Everything works fine. Except the dialog. Which is the best part of this game. The comical and witty lines really is what makes this game shine. But with this bug, it's basically a cartoony Assassin's Creed that sounds like a broken speak and spell.
WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 gamemoderun mangohud %command% -force-clamped
very laggy
I got crashes after the ship cutscene, then another crash after exiting the far view
Problems have been solved in Proton GE43 and Bleeding Edge experimental as a hack was needed to prevent audio desync and stuttering.
40fps. 40hz. Medium preset
Ubisoft connect launcher puts pop up that need to be closed with keyboard commands. After opening the Ubisoft Overlay, one must navigate to options and disable in game notifications. The overlay cant be closed so we must reboot the game. Sometimes the Ubisoft launcher misbehaves or asks for a password, ignore it and wait, it should solve on its own without our input.
Sometimes grass flickers in sunlight. This is a driver problem and has been reported to mesa. Turn AA to high to mask it.
You must manually select fullscreen as it defaults to a borderless that doesnt work great
You need to select a gamepad config before launching the game as it does not do so by default
You will be fine as long as: You use Proton Ge43 or newer or, as of this report, Valves Bleeding Edge Update the deck to the latest version to get the new mesa driver In game select Fullscreen and turn off photomode. The game scales fine but has framerate swings, I recommed capping at 40hz, 40 fps or 60hz 30 fps and using the Medium preset at native resolution. It might stutter as cache build the first time you jump in water or cause certain particle effects. I recommend runming the benchmark before starting to play to build some cache. Should not be a problem later. Enjoy!
Controller defaults to WASD & Mouse, which does not work. Switch to Gamepad for Xbox buttons & prompts. No DualSense
Native 21:9 with cutscenes available via hex edit, as is still AAA standard
DualSense worked, but with kb&m prompts
Native 21:9 is supported, with cutscenes via hex edit
The game automaticly starts with keyboard and mouse (WASD) if you dont cange to Gamepad you cant get through the start screen
My Graphics are on middle and locked at 30fps ingame i think with a bit of tinkering you could get 40 on high
The missing voiceovers/captions are very few and far between and really aren't likely to impact the experience meaningfully.
Some of the voiceover audio, along with the captions, is missing--looks to be appearing for a split second, then gone.
All I had to do to get this running was just wait a bit. No tinkering, no eldritch summoning rituals. Give it a couple minutes on the spinning Steam logo, and away it goes.
Works fantasticly with GE proton, I played maxed out settings for the duration, with dips down into the 90 fps range. and a max set at 144.
gamemoderun mangohud %command%
In the one cut scene I saw while playing, There was some missing audio. I'm not sure if that's just the pc port or if there's actually just some issues on Linux though.
I did try regular 7.0-5 proton with no success there. Tried GE-7-42 and that worked great. Don't mess with the in game overlay or it won't close and you'll have to reload. Other than that it works great.
There is some quirkiness to start the game, but otherwise it works well.
There's some audio without subtitles, some audio which is not heard at all, and in the intro there are some weird desynch noises which eventually disappear. Most of it seem to be bugs from the game itself.
Calling the Steam Overlay with shift-tab most times lead to the game crashing. Which is mildly annoying since I had to call it to dismiss the "key activation" message. But I eventually did it.
Problems with the Steam Overlay. Also, the first time the game is run it only shows Ubisoft Connect, not the game window. Had to quit ubisoft connect and press play again for the game to launch.
The game uses Ubisoft Connect, which (as the name says) connects to the Internet. Might not work offline.
Dropped Graphics from high to low
Had a metallic sound then fell out if sync and stopped and started at random
Cannot get past "Press any key to continue" launch screen, instantly crashes
The game first installed Ubisoft Connect and I was able to connect to my Ubisoft account fine. The game then loaded to the initial "Press any key to continue" screen where it briefly scanned for my installed DLC before crashing and asking to submit a crash report to Ubisoft. I got the same crash happen in the default Steam proton setup, Forced Experimental, and GE-Proton7-42.
