This game only recently released, so my online intereaction with others was limited.
The game plays exactly as I remember back when I played this on the Xbox 360. It's a cult classic game that's been revived from the dead. If you enjoyed the game back then, you will be able to jump right back in.
I'm so surprised this game works as well as it does.
PunkBuster was not an issue
Runs fine out of the box with Proton 7.0.1 on Pop OS
Overall, it runs great out of the box. A few minor tweaks with the graphics settings can fix most issues if there are any.
There were times the game would minimize randomly.
A bit of lag when a map first loads but goes away fast enough that it hasn't effected my gameplay. By the time I come across an enemy, the issue already resolves itself.
App randomly minimizes itself from time to time
It started once, then never started again.
Stopped starting. Just shows a black window that automatically minimizes. Not sure how this became Steam Deck verified.
It's still not stable on my build. It worked fine once before. Now it's just constant problems.
Crashes every time I start the game
Crashes on almost every launch. Controller isn't working.
How is this Steam Deck verified? Usually games that are Steam Deck verified have no issues.
Steam Deck Verification for Bethesda is broken
Very low audio
So far, all of the Steam Deck Verified Bethesda games I've tried do not run smoothly on the Steam Deck. There is always an error. Valve already downgraded Oblivion to playable for this reason. I expected better from Bethesda and Valve.
Error saying "please make sure all instances of the rockstar games launcher have been closed and try again." The game will not load at all.
Multiple dialogs are completely missing. It's not just a sound issue. The characters mouths don't move when they are supposed to talk and even the subtitles follow the same effect. Sometimes the characters lines are repeated in areas they aren't supposed to be. It happens so often, it completely kills the story
Half the storyline is missing
The game plays fine. Everything works fine. Except the dialog. Which is the best part of this game. The comical and witty lines really is what makes this game shine. But with this bug, it's basically a cartoony Assassin's Creed that sounds like a broken speak and spell.
Does not work natively as advertised
This game is advertised as Native, yet I had to force Proton compatibility on it.
My report is based on running it natively. All of the check boxes were based on what happened when I ran it natively. The game only works if you force Proton compatibility. I should not have to do that with a game that is advertised to run natively in Linux.
Needed to use Window mode
Pressing the volume down button crashes the game
Fullscreen causes random crashes. Also, when I lower my volume, it crashes. Increasing it doesn't
Multiple crashes
The game works well in Windowed mode. It crashes often in fullscreen. In my eyes, this is NOT Linux compatible even though it's advertised as Native.
The game started and worked fine once. Won't launch again.
Stopped launching
I really want to try and get into monster hunter and understand what all the hype is. I have no way to play it other than my Steam Deck due to how often I'm away from home. But it just stopped launching.
It works well. Some frame rate stutters after first loading a map but after that it runs smooth.
Frame rate drops when first starting but eventually stops
It works but it's not smooth
At first, it worked fine. Then one day, the launcher won't log me in. I force a log in. ALL OF MY CLOUD DATA WAS DELETED!
Deleted my cloud save data
Deleted my cloud save data
Didn't get to play online for long but it worked.
The game was working great for me for months. No issues. Then I try to start up the game and get a message that something went wrong with my account. I relog and the game started over. I can't find my cloud data now. I lost EVERYTHING because EA insists on keeping that stupid launcher.
EA's stupid launcher again
Can't load the game because EA wanted to be stupid and not listen to fans years ago and make their own launcher that doesn't work half the time.
There are moments the gameplay stutters. I tried changing the FPS and the graphics settings. It's random and small. But with a racing game, it makes it unplayable. One little stutter at the wrong time can cause you to lose the race and cause a 10 car pile up.
Once in a while, the screen will completely freeze.
The graphics and quality of the game overall is very good. The only issues I found were the stuttering and random crashes that I mentioned. For most games, this wouldn't really be that big of an issue. But with a fast paced racing game where a split second can change your entire game, not so much.
Won't work on my PC
Massive FPS drops
For some reason. the frames drop substantially making it unplayable.
Tried multiple proton versions
It won't launch. I got the EA launcher to work after switching versions so much. This is just like the issues with Ubisoft. A stupid company decided to compete with Steam by making a crappy launcher and didn't realize it would be such a huge problem later on. EA is the WORST to get working on Linux.
Will not run
Idk if it's my computer or the game. But I've tried multiple ways to start the game and it won't start at all. But, System76 computers seem to have a lot of issues with playing compatible games. I've never had such a hard time gaming on Linux until I bought a System76.
