I have had about 3 crashes when going out of bounds and thats about all the isues i had. it runs flawlessly otherwise
-vulkan -high -nojoy -novid -USEALLAVAILABLECORES -malloc=system --force-grab-cursor
install vcrun2022
Didn't get far enough to bother trying to save
Crashes every time stepping out of the hut you start in
This runs great... until it crashes. Hard crash every time I step out of the first building.
On my pokey 2070 it runs at ~90 fps with Lumen High and all settings cranked except AA and texture filtering which I left at the default medium and 4x respectively, and super scaling left on TSR (not sure my card actually supports any of the other options). I don't know if that will change once I get outside, but so far in the single step I can take outside it doesn't seem to.
For now it's a great cabin simulator and not much else.

Needed to install vcrun2022 via protontricks to launch the game
The game is pretty demanding in 4k on my hardware. From what I've seen this probably isn't related to Linux and the game has performance issues on Windows as well. Even with FSR it didn't feel super fluid, but it was at least playable.
%command% -vulkan
install latest VC Runtime
WIdowed mode do not work. Unable to change resolution in fullscreen mode.
Game crashes as soon as I go outside on first location
Don't work with DirectX installing dxvk and vkd3d via proton trick don't help.
Was only able to lauch with -vulkan
switch, but game crashes soon after start as soon as I go outside from initial corridor.
This isn't really a game, more like a 10 minute playable tech demo
Half-Life 2: Episode 3 is finally real... kinda. currently it needs Protontricks in order to satisfy the VC runtime requirement.
-DP=Windows_Performace
the game will throw an error saying it requires Visual C++ Runtime, therefore, using Protontricks is required to install the Visual C++ Redistributables.
aside from needing Protontricks to solve the Visual C++ Runtime requirement, it plays alright, even if it obviously feels raw and needs more time in the oven. but, as a byte-sized teaser, it does the job well. the launch option is presented in case if you experience performance problems.
Crashed once on startup. Starting the game again worked perfectly.
Performance was a bit low, but from what I've heard it's just the game's optimization that's not too good. Lowering a few settings and enabling FSR 3 (upscaling only) bumped the framerate significantly. The whole 10 minutes of gameplay went as expected.
gamemoderun %command%
Works great out of the box. Performance is not that great, getting around 55FPS on an RTX 2070.
I did try with the -vulkan
flag but that made the game crash twice after some time.
gamemoderun %command% -vulkan
Attempted vcrun2022
Consistently crashes when exiting the shack at the very beginning
-vulkan
mixed setting got stable 30-60 fps
gamemoderun %command%
My framerate was sitting around 45-30fps. I thought that this might've been a Linux issue, but I tried the game out on Windows and it's the same.
Your experience will probably be better if you have better hardware than me.
Performance is not that great, but it rans the same as Windows for me. No noticable graphical glitches, input issues or audio problems on Wayland.
FSR3 is poorly implemented, especially Frame Gen.
FSR3 is currently broken, it'll break further if you use FSR FrameGen, it's completely broken. as such, I don't recommend using FSR. Truth be told, the game peforms very poorly across the board with my 7900 XTX setup. hovering around 40 fps.
And "running poorly" I mean Especially compared to other UE5 games like The Talos Principle 2, which peformed like 120fps w/ 1440p High Setting, and looked really good.
But whatever, it's 10 minutes demo. It hardly matters and they'll fix it in actual release.
had to switch latest proton back to 9.0.2 in order to launch
Game will throw "The following component(s) are rquired to run this program: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime"
Installed Visual C++ redist in the prefix but it will still throw the "following compoent(s) are required to run this program" error
-vulkan

Game crashes when saving
Game crashes after leaving shed
Does not work
-vulkan
Saves crash the game, including the very first auto-save
Unplayable because you can't really start the game
Low framerate. But it's a demo. I won't pay too much attention to bad performance.
Runs natively, albeit poorly but this seems to be the case on windows as well.
Game crashes after leaving the shack.
The game is not playable as it crashes upon leaving the Ravenholm shack at the very beginning of the game.
-vulkan -windowed
installed vcrun2022
, did not affect the issue
The game just crashed
The game crashes upon leaving the shack at the start of the game.
