With the out of the box proton the launcher was a black screen, however when switching to Proton 9 beta everything worked as expected.
In my experience you have to change the compatibility to the beta version of proton 9. GE, the steam recommended, nor experimental versions worked for me. All had a black launcher screen.
Without changing anything you get a TV test pattern on the menu but the game plays fine.
Just switch HD text on in settings
Launch with GE Proton or it crashes after the opening cut scene. Otherwise it's fine stable and doesn't require any adjusting unless the text bothers you, then switch to HD text but that's more of a feature.
Frames limited to 40, TDP on 8
The game will not launch on official or experimental proton. You MUST use GE proton at the time of writing.
Game does not capture mouse cursor
As the summary states, the game will not capture my mouse cursor and therefore I cannot click anything on the game screen.
Recently started crashing
bash -c 'exec "${@/%"PDLauncher/LauncherPatcher.exe"/KSP2_x64.exe}"' -- %command%
I'm not sure if it is a problem with the game itself or if it is due to a recent update in Fedora 40. But, whatever is going on, I started having crashes shortly after starting play. Mainly crashes at the VAB, but will crash on the launch pad or anywhere else given enough time.
You can run this right after install wih no issues. Just set th graphic options to medium.
Set the graphics to medium
The text is slightly small but not too bad. When no looking directly at text it mightbe a litl hard to read.
Need mouse or touchscreen. Set it to not open and it's fine
A tiny bit of crackling when resuming the game from putting the deck to sleep. Otherwise no issues
Just let the intro movies play until you get to the main menu. The game runs fine and has been played for 2 hours straight with no crash
Skipping the intro movies crashes back to Steam
