In a couple of instances, the game wouldn't correctly capture the mouse, allowing it to move to the second monitor mid game
The framerate will occasionally drop for a few moments. Specially when first starting a match or during certain map events. Nothing too bad though. I play on medium graphics, which I feel like it's a bit low given my hardware, but the game is still enjoyable and I get a good framerate most of the time.
I had a major bug where I would get a black screen after every match, forcing me to restart the game each time. To fix this I did the following:
-Set the game to borderless windowed
-Switch off NVIDIA DLSS and Frame generation
The game would not go past the loading screen on the standard proton version. GE-Proton9-20 was required.

Following the following guide from this steam thread (https://steamcommunity.com/app/3065170/discussions/0/4632608469788138734) I got the game to run smoothly, although not looking as well as I'd like:
- USE GE PROTON OVER EXPERIMENTAL IF YOU'RE ON NVIDIA:
- You can get this by downloading ProtonUP-QT from your distro's software centre.
- Open & click "Add Version" > GE-Proton9-17 > then close + reopen steam.
- Right click MHWilds Beta > Properties > Compatibility = select GE-Proton9-17.
- GRAPHICS FIX: Surface Quality = Low, Ambient Occlusion = Off.
- turn dlss off if on windows, or experiencing a black screen ingame.
Runs perfectly out of the box
Just a flawless experience after clicking install and nothing else. I did get about 20 more fps on average on x11 compared to wayland though. Switching between DX11 and DX12 didn't make a noticeable difference for me.

Slight stutter on the standard Proton version
I did experience some slight stuttering on the standard version of Proton. Changed to Proton GE and the performance was flawless.
100% flawless
I beat the game without ever experiencing so much as a stutter. Enable gamemode if your screen turns off due to keyboard/mouse inactivity.

I got the game and it ran flawlessly out of the box. No performance issues or crashes playing with friends through a 6 hour session (no restarts).
The main downside is that you can't get invited via the xbox menu. Ways around this:
- You can get invited through Steam, provided you have the Steam version of the game and at least one your friends in the ship does too.
- You can be the one to send the invitations. You can send invitations through the game menu without the need for the xbox game bar and your friends will be able to accept them (provided they are not on Linux too)
- Be in the same guild. You can join a guild's ships without the need for an invitation via the guild menu.
