constant microstutters, feels like playing on 30 fps
game doesn't quit on its own when closing it
Steam broken, Heroic / Epic Works.
The steam version of DBD needs to connect to their specialized steam backend over SSL. The epic games versions backend doesnt require this. Running the EGS version using the suggested fixes works.
The game is broken on Steam, and on Epic through Heroic now
Since the latest patch the game is completely broken on linux. When starting the game you just get an EAC warning with error code 4. This is the full EAC report:
EAC has detected that game files have been modified (error code 4). To resolve this, please verify the integrity of the game cache (found under the Local Files section of the games properties). Additional info: Unknown file version (DeadByDaylight/Plugins/Runtime/Bhvr/ OnlineSubsystemEpic/ThirdParty/EOS/SDK/Bin/EOSSDK-Win64-Shipping.dll)
Verifying and Repairing the game files doesn't do anything, even reinstalling the game and reinitializing the prefix didn't fix it. Completely borked since last patch.
Steam Version works now
Occasional Stutters
The WebUI for the store uses Hardware Acceleration that sometimes crashes on older Proton versions.
30 fps with 5 fps lows, completely unoptimized
Bad remix, but runs on linux without tinkering
The whole game didn't look much better than the normal portal except with some things reflecting. Most things look just like the original. (Probably not a linux issue, it just looks bad lol)
It runs on 30fps with ultra settings. (Most likely due to the game though)
I checked the Epic Games version aswell as the Steam version and both run perfectly without anything that needs to be done. Custom keybinds also work and can be setup just like with windows.
runs without any tweaks
This is not an issue with linux or proton, but when loading into a world and all the avatars need to be loaded, it comes to short freeze frames. These stop when every avatar has been loaded. I'm just mentioning this so people that get into vrchat on linux for the first time dont feel like the issue is on their side. It's just related to the models loading in for the first time.
