Please note that if you have multiple GPUs in your system and you use Xinerama to merge the X screens, some WINE software will NOT run! (this one included)
The Windows version works better then the native one
The native Linux version has a black screen when starting (and can only be resolved by an elaborate workaround with switching the game from/to fullscreen windowed mode). The Windows version under Proton 'just works'
Game works excellent, launcher requires some work to get running
You will need to run the following protontricks to make the launcher work:
protontricks 359320 -q dotnet40 win7

Quickplay didn't find a game due to low pop for now, but the main area (with other players present and running around) works like a charm
No problems with the game, except the cutscenes
Video Cutscenes do not work, but does not break gameplay
Performance similar to the demo, but the menu bug is fixed!
Initial observation is that the intro cinematic (note I had motion blur still on) had some framedrops. Intial gameplay area solid 60 FPS on High detail settings
Fix the launcher, runs perfectly!
Launcher does not work out of the box on Debian due to missing Root CA certificates, details below: https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49515#c23
After this, the game is able to update itself.
Works like a charm, install using the following: . . . . sudo apt install python3-pip python3-setuptools; python3 -m pip install --user protontricks ;wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Winetricks/winetricks/master/src/winetricks -O ~/.local/bin/winetricks; chmod +x ~/.local/bin/winetricks; protontricks 644930 -q vcrun2017 dotnet472 gdiplus
Runs smooth, but you need to do 1 of the following:
- Fake an xbox controller
apt install xboxdrv
xboxdrv -d
- Plug an actual xbox controller in your pc.
There is a some weird bug in Proton/WINE that will make the game crash after ~ 5 minutes when there is no controller present.
Furthermore, I run it with the following launch options:
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" %command%
