PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 RADV_PERFTEST=aco,gpl gamemoderun %command%
O jogo roda liso, parece nativo, é uma ótima experiência
DXVK_FRAME_RATE=144 mangohud taskset -c 0-7 %command%
Sometimes even only driving forward would lead to a hard shift towards left. Not sure if its my keyboard or the game.
Some FPS drops can occur
Game would crash after exiting main menu
PROTON_USE_WINED3D = 1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%
Could not compile vkdx shaders
Somtimes shadows on car flicker, but as the attention is focused on road, it is almost unnoticeable.
Worked well apart from the EAapp/Steam Overlay
some lighting/reflections were a bit blocky.
The steam overlay would only show up for the EA app and not for the game itself, I couldn't find a solution to this.
Also the game was consuming a LOT of cpu, this is also true on windows. After messing around some I discovered that suspending the game process for a few minutes (to reduce my lappy's tempereture) made the game go into offline mode, which reduced the cpu usage drastically and the temperetura never went above 85ºC again (was staying at the throttle limit, 95ºC, when connected to the internet).
Also no Shift+Tab available
Tried both on GE and Proton Experimental, but the crackling did not go away
At first the fps drops were annoying, but after a bit they became unbearable
Because of the constant fps drops and audio issues I cannot consider this a pleasent experience
FPS limit 30, TDP limit 9, graphics settings high-med
I had some problems with the cars steering to the left or sometimes the controls staying stuck on full right or left like a stick drift, opening up the menu when pressing "Steam" button it will stop playing audio, the only fix is switching to proton experimental and the problems all go away.
You have to switch UMA Frame buffer size to 2G to escape the lag spikes, after doing these things you can even play on high settings.
Works out of the box on Deck
All good
Works ootb on Proton 8.0.3
Pop!_OS 22.04 (x11)
Steam flatpak
It just doesn't start. It tries to launch, but after a few seconds it just crashes without anything showing up.
I've tried multiple versions of Proton (default, experimental and GE) and not one of them managed to launch the game. I also tried disabling esync, but that didn't help either.
The game is not enjoyable in its current state for me at least it has significant Audio crackling/suttering and regular Fps stuttering.
Loud crackling/distortion
Awful Stuttering And audio stuttering making it extremely uncomfortable to use headphones while playing/ using a normal volume.
Barely playable
Terrible performance: even on medium settings it is difficult to get 60 fps
Random game crashes. EA launcher sometimes crashes too
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 RADV_PERFTEST=gpl gamemoderun %command%
Random stutters in a racing game make it unplayable
There are moments the gameplay stutters. I tried changing the FPS and the graphics settings. It's random and small. But with a racing game, it makes it unplayable. One little stutter at the wrong time can cause you to lose the race and cause a 10 car pile up.
Once in a while, the screen will completely freeze.
The graphics and quality of the game overall is very good. The only issues I found were the stuttering and random crashes that I mentioned. For most games, this wouldn't really be that big of an issue. But with a fast paced racing game where a split second can change your entire game, not so much.
Single player only
PS4 controller won't work.
No cloud save on steam. You will need to copy your save mannually. Check pcgaming wiki for save directory.
EA app won't work. You will not be able to invite friends or accept invitaion.
EA app will give you a lot of trouble.
Runs decent on medium between 40-60 fps rarely stable, around 90% at ~50-55 fps and lowering setting to low doesn't make a difference. It is very well playable but at a console experiance so if you drop screen to 40hz and limit things a bit you might get some more battery life. Fan runs most of the time and sometimes it gets a bit loud.
Battery life from full charge shows about 1.5h with no changes made.
There is one sound that is happening at the beginning but then nothing at all. Not even over another device
Except for the lack of sound, everything else is a very smooth experience.
Even with it's oddities, the game is perfectly playable and could pass as a native experience.
On first startup, the game stutters alot because of shader compilation, but it eventually goes away.
After closing the game, Origin remains open in the background and has to be closed manually, otherwise Steam believes the game is still being played.
Initially, I couldn't control the game as none of the buttons worked, but after changing to a community controller profile the game worked.
Game autos/recommends to medium settings; downgraded to low to better keep 60 FPS
Game has some issues when in vast environments; city environments stay pretty locked at 60FPS medium settings
Everything looks like Minecraft for the first 2 Minutes
When connecting Controller via Bluetooth, trying to use it doesnt work just driving backwards. Installed xpadneo after that everything worked fine
Works
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 mangohud %command%
A lot of stuttering.
The game doesn't even open without any tinkering. I tested a lot of proton versions (including GE) and 6.3 is the most recent version that seems to work. The game stutters a lot - it's bearable most of the time, but sometimes it gets so intense that the game becomes unplayable for 10~30 seconds.
Anda joya papu, jugalo que vá jamón ;)
Origin is a pain in the *** but that's not Linux specific
The game itself plays perfectly fine without needing any tinkering. Origin messes up the experience a lot but you can only avoid that on consoles.
30FPS Cap
Shaders have not been pre-cached so you will stutter a LOT when you first start playing.
I am on multi monitor setup and moving the game to other monitor would not work as the game stayed locked to the primary monitor. The monitor which I wanted game to be on had to be set as primary before launching
I am using wireless Xbox 360 controller and I believe the input seemed to be just slightly delayed. Might be that the NFS Payback car controls itself are a bit wonky which made it seem like there would be input delay, don't know for sure
Constant slight stuttering, disabling esync seemed to help but still very unpleasant to play
If you really really need to play this game I think it is possible. But I personally had too much problems with it to be a pleasant experience
I was able install and get a stable work of Origin only on clean 6.16 GE prefix. On others nope. If Origin works fine, you'll have no problems with the game. Also Xbox One S Controller works too.
Controller does not work therefore game is unplayable
After disabling E-sync, I redid the pfx over and over again and delete download cache eachtime, until I found the proton that worked for me
Origin would launch for a few seconds then the game would crash
I did use the same proton GE as mentioned here as well as disabled E_SYNC. None of it worked because the game just won't launch.
