Playable with some missing audio
BGM is completely missing. Some voice audio is also missing. Did not test cutscene audio as cutscenes were disabled (required to start game) as of this report.
Having no audio makes it VERY difficult to play the game. Reverting to a previous GE release did not solve the problem either.
No SFX at all, no BGM, occasional voice audio.
This is an update from a previous submission on another machine.
Launches and runs as it should with no noticeable differences in performance.
The only thing that stands out is every update or so the savefiles become incompatible, but that is on the game itself rather than Proton.
mangohud WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winmm,version=n,b" %command% --launcher-skip --intro-skip -skipStartScreen
Raytracing preset on low, AMD FidelityFX 2.1 on Balanced, Image Sharpening at 0.5, VSync off, multithreading on.
It works for the most part OOTB with the exception of occasional random hangups in the qualifying screen.
EasyAntiCheat prevents joining game queue
EAC was implemented into the game in a recent update. EAC appears to start up , however "anticheat not started" error shows up when attempting to join a game.
On par with Windows in my observations.
The Proton EAC Runtime can be installed from the script: https://gist.githubusercontent.com/rokam/3fb8b768606eef1ddd696cd0bc02e6df/raw/6a0f3a502b2722c87e92ea9cffb8a00144f8a76a/fix_fallguys.sh
Runs out of the box without much ingame settings adjustments (if any).
Occasional FPS stutter in graphics-heavy maps (e.g. Prologue), but otherwise runs as it should be.
Didn't notice any performance degradation, and to verify, I checked framerates with MangoHud later with framecap option at 120FPS - some parts did have framerate drops (i.e. ingame transitions) but as far as I can tell never really dropped below 60FPS, even in maps with heavier use of reflections (where the store/restaurant windows are at the strip mall).
The stable version does NOT work. The multiplayer beta (1.2.2) runs out-of-the-box.
Certain areas in the game WILL slow down if there's a lot of debris and/or objects regardless of quality settings. But otherwise the rest of the game runs extremely smoothly.
Flawless gameplay.
Did not test Discord integration and matchmaking as it will not work with Linux build of Discord on my particular system.
gamescope -w WIDTH -h HEIGHT -f -- %command%
Issue was remedied with gamescope.
Native scales better without gamescope, but will only run at main menu and WILL crash once you start clicking and load any minigame.
Requires the disabling of fsync in options in launch options via "PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1" to enable gamesaves.
Game will hang when you attempt to exit, to which the only current usable remedy is to click on the Stop button on Steam.
