Consistently getting better FPS and more stable frametimes than on Windows. A few times, black loading screens got stuck until I tried moving my mouse/pressing keys, but nothing game-breaking.
5.9-GE-3-ST GloriousEggroll
Framerate gets choppy every now and then, but the occurrences are far and few between
- The game freezes and there's screen tearing only during the first ~10 seconds as the VRAM gets filled - I drew this conclusion based on data from dxvk hud. Everything is mostly buttery smooth afterwards. I also suggest disabling the Uplay overlay, as other users also noted.
- I used Proton-5.9-GE-3-ST

Extreme rubberbanding issues at 1440p even though FPS sit at 60-80. It becomes more manageable/enjoyable at lower rendering resolutions (<60%), although the issue doesn't completely go away.
Takes 10 minutes to get to the main menu
I get ~10-15FPS more than Windows but it feels choppier (weird frametimes)
I get kicked as soon as the countdown gets to 0. MP is supposed to work on noEAC servers but I can't find any populated ones in the game.
I couldn't get EAC to initialise (error #1) with the default glibc
and glibc-eac
or glibc-eac-bin
from the AUR, however the most recent CI build from https://github.com/Frogging-Family/glibc-eac seems to work so far.
gamemoderun mangohud %command%
Crashes once every few hours
mangohud gamemoderun %command%
Crashes randomly after 30-45 minutes with ring gfx_0.0.0 timeout
The game works straight away if I copy it to an ext4 partition, but:
to get it to work on NTFS, I had to mount the partition it using the following:
mount -t ntfs -o uid=(my user id),gid=(wheel/sudo group id),rw,exec /dev/sdXY /mnt/mountpoint
All the mods I had installed under Windows carried over without any additional configuration, save for their keybindings where applicable.
The game doesn't start without disabling Esync
STEAM_COMPAT_DATA_PATH=$HOME/.proton/The\ Witcher
No audio whatsoever. The game doesn't show up in pavucontrol at all.
Performance is exceptional; FPS didn't drop below 100 at any point with maxed out settings, and I experienced no hiccups or anything of the sort
