All basic functionality works well. Very rarely, mods will not be accessible on Linux system (example: Reskin Client)
The game runs smooth, almost like Windows native version. "Almost" because of some mods which not works with Linux for some reason
Despite the occasional bugs, I enjoyed the game, and if I were to play the game on Windows, I would get the same experience
At two levels ("Greenhouse" and one I forgor 💀) I had artifacts with render of textures.
In distance, some objects have solid black texture, while up close they are normal. Level restart should fix this issue
NOTE: It's very rare. I had only this in 1 level out of the whole game.
Level sometimes can have significant FPS drop. Usually I had 150 fps on other levels, but in Greenhouse I had a 40-50 FPS.
I don't know if level restart fixes this issue, but at next level FPS restored to previous values. Replaying level (after completing game and reboot) did not reproduce this issue
Game cannot properly close by itself and freezes, so Alt+F4 and Task Manager is your best friend
Played in 2 player CO-OP. No issues
If you use Proton version of the game, you'll get experience like from native-Windows version.
When someone spawns any prop/npc/weapon/etc., the game could freeze for seconds. I don't know if it's game addons or addons fault
DO NOT USE NATIVE VERSION OF THE GAME!
Native version of the game suffers from memory leaks (im not sure if I'm using the right term). After 20 min of gaming you'll get "Not enough memory" error, even if you have plenty of memory remaining.
I couldn't find any solution to this problem, so I have to use Proton version of GMOD and it works smooth
Random FPS drops and freezes in a rhythm game is unacceptable. So unacceptable that I had to switch to Windows for comfortable gameplay
gamemoderun mangohud %command%
I had stutters very often and random FPS drops. Also, game have significant worse performance than on Windows.
Instead of sound, I've heard very loud noise
Without a fix, your ears will bleed from LOUD AF noise. Many people have linked here to a post with a fix from Reddit, but it was deleted due to "spam".
So I wrote my own Bash script, whose only requirement is to have ffmpeg installed (https://gist.github.com/DareFox/e02efb02438e7b7720fc91bcdd2786a8)
If you won't create your own units/factions/maps, then the game runs perfectly fine. Else prepare for dual boot
After match finished, if you fly to stopped expolsion/unit who shot, you'll hear noise. This noise move from game to all devices in PipeWire. Flying away from audio source removes noise
Can't save local units/factions. Also, map creator doesn't see templates, which makes creating map impossible. Downloading from workshop (not steam) works fine and you can use/play them
