After testing with Proton versions that include a registry fix for Wine bug #15670, 4.11-3 thru expiremental, I settled on 8.0.2. After following a guide from pulchr on Steam I got the game to run without any noticible issues.

If you dual boot run it under Windows, if you just run Linux the preformence is acceptable.

When the game is running in exclusive fullscreen the game will crash if you try to alt+tab

Performance:Slight Performance Problems

Runs worse then on windows but still pleanty playable.

Instability:Occasionally

Out of a dozen tests I expirenced one crash uppon loading a level.

Tinker Steps:Launcher: Heroic Games Launcher

I own the game on GOG so tried to install it via the Heroic Games Launcher, but it failed to create the install directory for the game. I had to go to gog.com and download the games install script then install it that way after which I could launch it from the Heroic Games Launcher.

The main menu will not reconize controler inputs and will only reconize keyboard inputs, but once a save is loaded or game is started it will reconize controler inputs. I have made a custom layout and shared it on Steam you can apply to fix this.
