Initially I had the black square mouse pointer too. After applying the winetricks d3dx9 I see the mouse pointer, but still with a black square. Turning off fullscreen resolves the black square but then the window is small and the pointer flickers.
Worked out of the box. Started in windowed mode, but it was easy to switch to native display res. and enable full screen in video settings.
One crash when attacking a fish.
Get the game to start at all.
Followed the instructions on https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/1549#issuecomment-447654643 to get the gamepads to work.
Some loading animations get stuck for a few seconds. But once you're in the game it runs fine.
Selected older version of Proton
The underground is getting blurry and is constantly changing. There are dancing lights and reflections that are distracting.
Works with Proton 5.0-10, but face artifacts with 5.13, 6.3 and Experimental.
