Its playable with some small frame drops and lag, automatic linux steam installation dose not work.
Use something like Lutris or wine, to install windows steam, then install and run avp in wine steam. Copy and overwrite AvP.exe, AvP_DX11.exe form steam wine TO linux steam. use proton 4.11-13
some transparency problem with alien blood.
Small frame drops noticeable DirectX11
using window manager or Alt + Tab usually crash game
Game will crash in Proton 5, Proton 4.11-13 seems to work best.
runs like native but not exactly, good enough
Alpha Labs sector 4, that's when it gets most noticeable
On windows this game lag a lot, not a single frame drop even on Linux, its like it was made for Linux (5.11)
gamemode
could be crackling audio, but there was some proton/doom 3 update
it is playable but still some lags exist "stuttering" screen freezing half a second or less usually.
some lag went away, still minor lags but playable. worst lag was 2 seconds long. most lags happen at start of game.
this helped me some PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 WINEESYNC=0 mesa_glthread=true %command%
It have crashed but seem to be running fine now. with this settings. usually servers with modes was problematic.
Super good, full support for ps4 with rumble thru steam input and TR2Main
In game settings, set joystick to xinput controller 1, and have steam input on. Download https://github.com/Arsunt/TR2Main/issues/14 Proton 4.11-13
stability and compatibility is no there yet
only in proton 4.11-13 freezes and crashes, proton 6.0-GE-1 will make it playable, but without cutscenes an without rumble for PS4 :(
1 hours crashes
Everything works, cutscenes, startup logo, (one) joystick input. steam input is better.
Proton 5.0-10 is the shit for this game, I also play with https://core-design.com/community_tr3withoutcrystals.html
there some bug in steam if you enable steam input and or overlay. crash at startup.
just disable overlay and you can play with you're keyboard :( I played with a PS4 about 4 hours yesterday.
works fine
specific stem input setting will crash game at startup
not stable enough for a gamer
works without cutscenes
If I use alt + ctrl + arrow keys, it will crash the game!
specific input crash the game, window gone + audio in a loop
cutscenes doesn't always work, it did work with 5.0-10
you have to remap Action and Jump in the game, don't touch alt and ctrl(at same time), then the game runs fine
There is alternative keyboard buttons to use instead of the mouse. Moving the mouse in the game was never a problem
Sometimes mouse buttons wouldn't work in game and menu, and the first time I started the game the mouse was lagging ONLY in the menu
I cant stop playing :D
One time I could see thru the bottom part of a rock, not so often but sometimes I could see like flickering on some 3d surfaces. Sometimes I could see 2 shadows from Lara. Shadows that hits the water look wavy and wrong around Lara.
Mouse buttons works most of the time in the game, almost always. but in the menu I have to use keyboard sometimes
It runs good, no lag or crashing. but without cutscenes, no... not really. its important part of the game and story.
cutscenes that is not 3D graphics show black screen
I found the same problem in TR3, ctrl and alt can get input "stuck" but it didn't crash the game like in TR3
dgVoodoo2 will fix full-screen fmv, not stable to run.
compared to glorious eggroll light and/or color bugs
small but notifiable frame drops from some camera views
some levels will crash usually when loading next level
I tried both nv-prime and intel.
Was terrible when I first tried without lunch options. Now it runs like native without a single lag with this for my GPU "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 mesa_glthread=true %command%"
Stuttering
At some places game start to stutter. both audio and graphics. seem to be some DirectX problem.
small lags
there are some "strips" on shadows
seems to be running okey with only a little lags here and there without PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1
You should install and use gamemode, and configure it properly. I have latest Nvidia prime installed and rt kernel.
Performance
almost completely lag-free with small frame rate drop can happen, on old thinkpad
Small problem with ps4 controller, it show up as xbox 360 , but only receives rumble(from enable and disable it) no input works. With ds4drv all input work perfect, except I don't have rumble with ds4drv :)

"ds4drv --hidraw" gives full ps4 controller support with rumble. Performance is nearly the same as on windows for this machine.
6.19-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
disabling volumetric effects helped me a lot, compare to last report it runs noticeable better.
