No issues encountered
using proton 8.0, I had zero issues to play this game. Had to setxkbmap us, however, as key controls are not configurable.
Installation/initialization is a bit long, but succeeds eventually.
As said, there are significant performance issues. The game seems barely playable
Only noticeable when graphic settings where greater than "low"
shadows on low are horrendous. the game itself will seem blurry.
All graphics performance on low, the game's FPS drops to 9-10 after a while (≃ 15 minutes
I do not have the latest graphics card but can play most games at least on medium settings in 1080p.
Could not launch it at all
Tried multiple proton version (including the latest GE), i could not get a game window to open. I did not try much else and lacked the time to properly investigate what went wrong, i will amend this report next time I try.

Please disregard my previous report, the issue i had must have been entirely separate from the game itself. Maybe a steam cloud issue, or maybe the installer downloads something fro internet & couldn't…
Anyway. it works splendidly.
Around 4 fps on cutscenes & ship scenes. Battle scenes are fine.
Major lag spikes on seemingly random moments on game scenes, but my computer was doing a lot of disk I/O at the time, it may be linked.
Tried multiple proton version, tried some different launch options, checked that my graphics drivers were up to date, nothing can staunch the inability of this software to play a movie under proton.
Runs well with occasional slowness
After a while, in DirectX mode, with latest graphics driver, framerate would drop to a crawl. I noticed it the first time during a thunderstorm.
I noticed that saving then reloading the save corrects some of the slowness I encountered. I suspect thunderstorms causes the initial issue.
