Valve Index, runs great. For some reason I have to open and close the steam overlay on launching to see stuff but I'm sure it's nothing.
Valve index, runs like native. Index controller users: go to http://localhost:8998/dashboard/controllerbinding.html to rebind your controls as the defaults do not include the boost and menu buttons.
Works great on the most recent beta. Prone to hanging my graphics driver when opening the steam overlay, I simply disabled it, this might be fixed by downgrading the drivers. No mod installers :(
HTC Vive, runs perfectly fine. Few framedrops and a bit of patience in loading screens.
HTC Vive. Game runs but only the place block and stroke tools work. The grab tool even crashes the game. Without things like erase you can't really enjoy just messing around with it though.
HTC Vive, VR runs perfectly. The on screen mirror looks weird in menus but this doesn't affect VR gameplay in any way.
Runs really well initially but when a lot of enemies enter the framerate goes down. I'm not sure what in my setup causes this.
Valve Index, no issues. The game is rather intense and I recommend reducing the graphics to recoup some framerate and not and up sick. Also build up some love for unskippable cutscenes.
Runs just fine, but goes black when switching focus (alt tab). Also I'm not sure if it's normally this "floaty".
I played with the htc vive, the game runs great on high graphics. You can change the graphics quality and controls in the settings.
Since proton 4.11 this game runs perfectly out of the box, to get a smooth 120 fps in most areas I had to reduce the settings to medium/low (turning antialiasing off completely looks really bad)
Valve Index, no issues. Performance is not great but I fear this is no different on windows, the main performance hit is when too many bullets are in the air at the same time, which you'll only encounter at the highest of difficulties.
HTC Vive. The game runs just fine but would give you motion sickness on any platform, surely it's intended.
This report is for the VR mode, I used the HTC Vive. As of the latest update to the game, the VR mode runs perfectly with no tweaks.
Valve Index, 100%-ed the game without problem. The game is very performance demanding however and on low settings I never reached more than a mildly acceptable framerate.
Runs but crashes often. Loading times are very long. It'll often hang on a scene change, I think this is related to video memory.
Valve Index, runs ok and I finished the game. This game is inherently not very stable and it's difficult to pin down how much of that stems from proton. Mainly starting up the game seems to be a fickle period where you better not switch windows and just keep the headset on or it'll crash. When you get to the main window I got the message "I see you're playing on a rift, blah blah, stability issues, blah" (slightly condensed) The message would stick to the view and I'm not sure how I closed it, it will also pop up again if you open the overlay or something. Afterwards, gameplay is without major problems and I enjoyed the game, looking past minor issues that'd be better served in a game review. Overall, I'd recommend the game.
