Game installs and plays well, seems to be on par with how it runs on Win10 for me.
using Proton 6.3-5, worked flawlessly (played tutorial and two campaign missions). no tinkering required
Game worked great out the box. Great experience on the Index. Absolutely no issues.

Until first mission all seem to work (big board in 'dojo', tutorial mission, 1st mission), but 2nd mission refuses to load/start each time I tried and game quits (crashes)

Valve Index, no issues. Performance is not great but I fear this is no different on windows, the main performance hit is when too many bullets are in the air at the same time, which you'll only encounter at the highest of difficulties.

Rating silver as sometimes it runs fine, sometimes has a terrible frame rate, and, sometimes just locks up/stops rendering (although the machine can be ssh'd into to stop the process). It's not apparent what or why this happens, but it does.
When it's working though, it works well.

Installed NVIDIA 396.54.09, which has Stream Output enabled. Worked perfectly. This isn't implemented in the latest NVIDIA drivers. Add the NVIDIA dev repository, update your package manager, and re-install 396.54, it will automatically fetch 396.54.09 (on apt anyway).
