Works out of the box with Valve Index, notwithstanding the weird control schemes.
Not sure if controllers are not mapped incorrectly, but this game has some inconsistency in handling controls in Windows too, so it's the same.
There were only old reports for this game, so I reinstalled from scratch with a modern proton version (6.3-5) to see whether it would work. It did.

Valve Index, 100%-ed the game without problem. The game is very performance demanding however and on low settings I never reached more than a mildly acceptable framerate.
The first time you run it, you'll see the EULA on your headset but then it will all just go black. After killing it and reloading it all worked fine. It is slow to load though with no loading screen on the HMD so be patient.
