It works. I had the same issue as another reviewer that it would seem to be frozen after starting the actual game (after selecting the options). However, I simply needed to get back to my PC and click somewhere within the game (with the mouse) in order to proceed to the level.
Game frequently froze when exploring with ships, until I added "PROTON_NO_D3D11=1 %command" as launch option. Fonts are still broken - overlap, don't disappear when they're supposed to shade away, not anti-aliased.
Terrible performance degradation. Unplayable.
Unplayable hardware lag. Turning the character caused significant drop in performance (down to 1 frame every 2 secs maybe). Everything has been set to minimum or off to no avail. Also tried windowed-fullscreen like another report below was suggesting, as well as restarting. No change.
Won't start. Used the tweaks as described by others. Tried both protontricks and winetricks. To no avail.
The game starts fine but crashes when pressing "G" (to select the building menu) and when accessing unknown signals. Unplayable really.
Proton-5.9-GE-5-ST
Alt-tab / moving the mouse outside the game is buggy. Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.
Game crashes EVERY time when "G" is pressed. Game crashes EVERY time when you investigate a Signal Source and open the "present".
Sometimes the mouse icon becomes stale, i.e. issuing command (pressing y or so) won't change the cursor type. The mouse still works though, but it's a little annoying. Also videos on campaign mode do not play - the game freezes after a few secs of the campaign video. Make sure to skip them. Lastly, the game doesn't start - it gets stuck in the "ad" for their expansion. You have to forcefully close that.
Does not start at all. Uninstall and reinstalled multiple times. Even tried Proton 3.7. Other VR games work. Starts the loading screen once (displaying Unity ..) then shuts down, and Steam Runtime still showing it as "running"
