Game crashes SteamVR on the initial loading screen
gamemoderun %command%
Game works fine in Windows, but crashes SteamVR almost immediately after it starts opening. The game itself doesn't crash however, which is a bit strange. Occurred on both Custom GE Proton and Proton Experimental. Same when moving the game to a shared dual-boot drive and to the Arch Linux partition.
gamemoderun %command%
The base game has no issues when running with GE Proton or Proton Experimental. Performance is great and I've only encountered bugs when attempting to run mods. Running ModAssistant with Wine doesn't seem to work consistently and I don't like having to run an older version of Beat Saber for Beataroni mods. If you've got a dual boot, just run on Windows if you want mods.
env OBS_VKCAPTURE=1 gamemoderun mangohud %command% -sdlaudiodriver pipewire -freq 120 -nojoy -novid -high -vulkan -nod3d9ex -noaafonts
When using non-native resolution with windowed fullscreen, this seems to introduce some kind of weird mouse acceleration. This issue is not present when running native resolution with windowed fullscreen, or fullscreen with non-native resolution.
Aside from the weird windowed fullscreen bug, this game runs great on both linux and windows. I haven't tried running the game through proton, but if it works natively then why bother?
Still Not Working on Linux / Steam Deck as of Patch 6.1.3
Can't instantiate Easy Anti Cheat after getting to the main loading screen. No update on when this will be on the Steam Deck, and the new PTB patch 6.2.0 doesn't mention anything about it.
Most Recent Patch Seems to Have Fixed EAC Issues
The patch notes don't mention anything about fixing Linux support, but after running a fresh install of Dead by Daylight, it just works now.
Game runs just fine when bypassing EAC and running in offline mode. Recent Arch update causes EAC module to not load.
PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_0 VKD3D_CONFIG=no_upload_hvv gamemoderun %command%
Recent Arch update has broken EAC for this game. For the time being, multiplayer doesn't work, but you can still run the non EAC executable and the game runs fine in offline mode.
I haven't had any issues running Elden Ring up to this point on Linux. Hopefully a future update will fix the issues with loading EAC. Log displays the error: [EAC Callback] Code: 507. Message: 'Failed to load the anti-cheat module.'
Game works with no issues using only proton.
Software opens but cannot run in HMD
The main desktop menu opens successfully, but immediately gives an error "Task Scheduler is broken." Selecting the "fix startup" option appears to crash the desktop app, making no changes.
pkill picom; env OBS_VKCAPTURE=1 gamemoderun %command% -vulkan -USEALLAVAILABLECORES -cpuLoadRebalancing -ignorepipelinecache -fullscreen
Occasional visual glitches. Textures look a bit muddy.
Fullscreen sometimes works. Windowed borderless seems to be preferable.
Game would freeze at the initial loading bar if mangohud was enabled. Not sure why, as every other game I've tried mangohud on works just fine.
Game works fine out of the box. Adding listed game launch commands gives near Windows performance and stability. LML works after passing WINEDLLOVERRIDES, but I've only tested this out using the simple trainer.
env OBS_VKCAPTURE=1 gamemoderun mangohud %command%
Since recently changing my graphics card to AMD, I have had zero issues with playing this game.
However, when I had an NVIDIA card, this game had some pretty serious graphical bugs from the main menu onwards. Attempting to play the game for more than 10 minutes would generally result in the GPU crashing, more often than not requiring a full reboot.
Desktop app works post EAC update, but SteamVR app doesn't
gamemoderun %command%
Selecting SteamVR mode doesn't actually make the game run in SteamVR. Booting from SteamVR home doesn't start the game on either version. This occurred with both Custom Proton GE and Proton Experimental (beta).
Game works offline as expected. Very minor graphical bugs when first loading a course or home screen.
PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_0 gamemoderun %command%
Both screens flicker white for a second when loading into a new course or the home area.
Did not attempt online play, but offline play works as expected and loads steam cloud save from Windows PC.
Crashes before opening
Unsurprisingly, doesn't work at all in Linux. Crashes immediately on launch, regardless of proton version or launch options.
